Im using Music Studio Samplitude 2014. I recently transplanted my studio and since havent been able to record. My voice shows it picks up on my mixer (Behringer 1204fxusb) but fails to show in the track when I attempt to record. I also updated my computer to Windows 10 last night so idk if that could have thrown something out of wack or not.
. . . . I also updated my computer to Windows 10 last night so idk if that could have thrown something out of wack or not. . . . .
That is quite possible I have had many different issues with software after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 on two computers.
First you need to check the Windows 10 upgrade has not corrupted any system files it needs and then completely reinstall SMS 2014 - expect this to take a couple of hours..
Do this as follows:
Close down all programs.
Press and hold down the Windows key and press the X key.
From the popup menu select Command propmt (Admin)
In the window that opens type in the following: sfc /scannow note there is a space between scf and /scannow
Let this run to completion - it may take a long time
Once the checks are complete you may get a message saying some files cannot be fixed - this is OK.
Restart the computer.
If you get the message in step 6 that files could not be fixed repeat steps 2 to 7 again - do not open any programs if you have to do this. Note you may have to do this once more though twice is usually sufficient.
Uninstall SMS 2014 completely.
After you have uninstalled SMS 2014 - use Windows Explorer to locate the installation folder and delete any SMS 2014 files / folders left behind.
Locate the Program Data folder and delete any SMS 2014 files / folders left behind.
Note this is a Hidden folder so you may need to turn on Show Hidden folders option in Windows Explorer
Reboot the computer
Reinstall SMS 2014
You should now have a clean fully operational SMS 2014.
Note: If you do not do steps 10 and 11 you may still end up with a partly crippled SMS 2014
