I bought a Sony PS-LX300USB with your software

After working with Sony they cannot get your software to recognize their device attached to my computer. Sony dumped me here. Navigating your site to this point has been difficult to say the least. The problem is that the Sony Turntable does not connect Sound Forge Audio Studio 9 LE (about box version 9.0d build 232). I have two ASUS gaming laptops with i7 12 core processors 32 and 16 GB of RAM. Windows 10 Pro on the 17" and Windows 10 home in the 15". I would prefer to used this device on the 15" most of the time and occasionally on the 17".. Thus far only the 17" can successfully listen to the turntable using the sound control panel. The 15" will not do that. Both machines return a -9999 host error message when attempting to attach with audacity 2.3.3. using openSUSe Tumbleweed and Audacity 2.3.3 I can record from the turntable on both machines. Why can I not record with your software using either of my windows 10 laptops. Basically I hit record and nothing shows in the meters as being active and as I stated Sony support claimed no knowledge of the Sound Forge app and sent me here.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Sony had me configure this app several different ways. I would not if I were you make any assumptions anything related to this app is properly configured. The last configuration had me set in the sound control panel Line USB codec as the playback device default and speakers USB codec as the record device default. In the Vinyl Record and restore windows reverenced using the Windows Sound mapper when pressing the purple 1 button. I have also tried this with Line USB Codec as the playback device default. my internal realtek speakers and the recording device default. Under options I used Microsoft wave with the previous two devices as my specified playback and recording devices. Neither configuration recorded any sound or showed any activity in the meters. The latter configuration is the one that works with audacity under openSUSe Tumbleweed (linux) Audacity under windows following the same configuration as linux returns a -9999 return code something about a host connection error. The settings for 16 bit 44100 mhz cd quality are the ones that work using linux and audacity. Sony had be try 16 bit 48000 and 44100 neither worked.

I hope all of this makes some sense to someone.

@pasha19

Hi and welcome to the forum

. . . . Sony they cannot get your software to recognize their device attached to my computer. . . . .

First this is a user to user forum not Magix Support refering to the software as 'our software' is incorrect - it is Magix's software.

Did Sony get you to check if the computer which does not work is using the same device driver for the turntable as the one that does work?

If you have the disc that came with it, the drivers should be on there if so try installing them

Please excuse my discourtesy this has been over a three week process that included being sent to ASUS to find a hardware and sound control panel (my machine has a separate sound control panel). And being sent to Microsoft looking for a new codec. I have also disconnected all USB devices and uninstalled all hidden devices including deleting device drivers where possible and have reinstalled each of the device drivers I could find. I found no specific device drivers for either the turntable or the software, I thought they were MS standard drivers of some sort.

I inserted the CD it came with

Autorun starts an app

The options available are

Install Sound Forge Audio Studio (which I have done (version 9.0d Build 232))

View instruction manual (adobe reader required)

Install Preset Manager

Product Information

Browse 1.001 Sound Effects

Browse Disc

Choose Language

Exit

I accidentally installed preset manager once I believe it was removed using the program and features contro panel.

I see no drivers option. I browsed the disc and saw no drivers folder?

Where are the drivers part of Install Sound Forge Audio Studio? or maybe an option inside that?

Sound Forge was installed about three weeks ago should I do it again?

PS I do have other potential USB audio devices a video capture USB device, My smart phone and a tv tuner usb attachment. Except for charging the smart phone none have been reattached to the 17" machine since I cleaned out all the USB devices and drivers.

How does the Sony turntable connect to the PC.. USB or through the PC's an analog input? Either way .. is the device or input selected in Sound Forge's 'audio device type' menu? I am not sure about any of the Audio Studio versions, but in SF Pro, the audio device type settings are in "Options> Preferences> Audio" Select the "Record" tab and choose the desired input source routing.

USB from turntable to PC.

I configured it in options originally when it did not work. The first sony call agreed with that configuration. The last time sony specified how to configure it they focused on the default playback and record device in the Sound control panel and did not check the option preference settings which is why I believe configuring everything from the start is a good idea so we know we are testing a configuration sound forge believes might work.

I have gotten reports that this software has issues related to windows 10.
