With adobe I use two monitors and in the Magix downloaded manual it says this can be done. It says click onto the upper border of the screen and drag it to the second monitor. I've tried this and nothing happens. Plese give this 93 year old video maker a step by step instruction how to do this. thank you.

Program pane layout is a very personal thing and you may get many different answers.
I prefer to use a variation of the Movie Edit Pro Multi monitor option arrangement - from the top menu bar select Window, Window arrangement, Multi monitor with maximised arranger option which looks like this
The right panel is the Preview monitor
If you need increase the height of the Media pane panel - move the mouse over the edge indicated in the image below, you will see a 2 headed arrow appear - click and hold with the mouse and drag the edge down.

First I would try not clicking onto the upper border of the screen but still try grabbing the side and dragging.
If that fails,individual elements within the editor can be dragged to the second monitor. This is what I tend to do.
As John has already pointed out we all tend to do things bit differently.
Do you use Adobe for stills only or video as well?

Hi Ray. I have made over 100 award winning videos using Adobe CS6 and of course with earlier versions. You can see 32 of them on Yoiu Tube logging on to RoyfromDurham. If my Computer breaks down and Adobe is lost, I won't be able to get it back and would have to rent Adobe Cloud. So I am learning about Movie Edit Pro so I can have a back up editing programme. In fact I have already made two iso videos with Magix, One Blu-Ray and one DVD. The last one I finished a week ago about Durham Cathedral. Cheers stay safe. Roy

If you downloaded your last working copy of Adobe rather than getting a disk have you no way to reinstall it?
I am like you. Not really interested in a monthly subscription service if what I have still works for me. The other main problem would be not being able to use newer equipment with it but I guess that is less of a problem for us older gentlemen.

Hi Ray. Thanks for your continuing interest but no it's not what I want. I want to move the programme monitor onto another computer monitor. This will allow me to make the rest of the items on my first computer larger to view with my ancient eyes. It's the way I work with Adobe. Keep safe. Roy

From your initial post you wanting to work with a dual monitor setup as shown below, I suspect the image in my initial post may have caused some confusion as it looks as though it is one widescreen monitor - this is the direct screen grab is taken, I have redone this below - this is the Movie Edit Pro (MEP) equivalent of what you are describing you use with Adobe
on one monitor the main program window
the other monitor the 'screen' ie the Preview Monitor in MEP language
If so the method I posted above and @CubeAce (Ray's) method above will do this.

Yes John is correct.
I too have shown you a screen grab using the 'Print Screen' button on the keyboard to produce my image from across my two monitors. Once the preview monitor is dragged to the second monitor you can expand the preview monitor to full screen size. Some programs need you to expand the whole editor across the two desktops to allow movement and resizing of individual components. Movie Edit Pro does not need to do that and is in fact more beneficial not to do that. The larger you make the preview monitor the more processing power it will need and the more the pc will slow down.

Thank you John and Ray. I have repeatedly tried what you instruct and I can't get it to work. I think my best bet is to wait until the corona vrus lockdown is all over and then ask my friend who is a somewhat expert on these matters and actually built all my three PC's that I use daily and has just purchased Magix 17. I will show him all the instructions you have given me and ask him to act on them. I must be doing something wrong, Thanks for all your help.
Did the Windows, Windows arrangement, Multi monitor with maximised arranger option not work in MEP?
If so, I suspect you have your displays set to duplicate the desktop - it needs to be set to extended - hold down the Windows key and press P, this will open a dialog giving the various screen options - select Extend if not already highlighted.
If the left - right arrangement is the wrong way round for the quickest way to fix this is to swap over the video cables.
If this is not possible for some reason you will then need to go into the Windows display settings to make the monitor you require to have all the desktop icon on the Primary display - see this article for how to do this.

HI. John and Ray. Actually I have made a slight progress. I have clicked onto the edge of the programme monitor but evrything has moved over to the second PC monitor and I can't seperate the programme mintor from the rest of things on show. John I know that what you say is very correct but I am afraid I can't follow it. Age I suppose, So as I said I'm leaving it for an expert to do the job for me later. In the meantime it's no hardship to carry on as I have done when I made two recent DVD and blu ray discs. A big thanks again to you both for your help. stay safe. Roy
Hi. John Thank you for showing me insteasd of telling me how to use two monitors. I have now successfully put the programme monitor on my second monitor with a full screen image. I can now see the rest of the programme much bigger on my original PC monitor. It is making videos much easier for me. Once I have been shown how to do things I can follow what is shown and write the instructions down using my own language. It seems to me that every editing programme has a different word for the same subject. And in the English Language these words mean something else. i.e. One programme uses the word VOLUME for a video shot. To me VOLUME always meant loudness of a soundtrack. Whilst another programme uses the word event to describe a camera shot. Anyway thank you again for your help and patience. Stay safe and healthy. Roy

I now have a problem caused by my own stupididy. I by mistake seem to have removed the effects of the programme
I thought I was just removing the panel requesting a payment to accept fx after a trial period. I can no longer seperate the sound from the picture. Also the FX to sharpen the image is lost. Is there any way I can restore the FX. I found by accident a dialogue box which included a square if unticked will allow all movie files to seperate image from sound. unfortunately I've forgotton where I found it, can anyone tell me how to find that dialogue box again. When you registered and activated the program did you download and instll all the extras that become available for the variant - Basic, Plus or Premium?

Hi. When I removed what I thought was only the new blue effect trials I clicked on all FX. When the programme was installed from a Disc by a collegue every extra was installed. Obviously I still have the disc and all the relevant serial numbers. I have follwed your instructions about seperating sound from image and hsve made a note of where to find the the necessary info. But I still can't edit the image without the sound moving as well. Thanks for your interest and keep safe. Roy

The video and audio track are grouped together to maintain synchronisation of the audio with the video for editing eg if you cut a section out then the same section of audio will also be removed.
If you do not want the audio portion you can ungroup it- select the video and then click the broken chain link button, shown below,just above timeline, select the audio part and delete it
