Hi,

I have had problems with playback distorting. Pressing stop then play resolved the problem for several seconds. I was using an external interface to monitor the sound and it was plugged into an external USB hub. When I plugged it directly into a USB port on the computer, my problem was solved.

You need to provide more details about your computer, setup, monitoring setup, patch, project, effects and plugins being used. Does this occur with all projects, even simple ones? Which driver are you using? What other programs are open at the same time? There may be an interference. Etc.

Hi. Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. I do, however know frustratingly little about interfaces, monitoring set up etc etc so not really able to respond. All i can say is that i've written 2 full songs, have used it on many other projects since last October, and it's now starting to distort even though i'm just playing back the audio.

Hi Nigel,

Interfaces - what is plugged in to your computer.

How are you listening (monitoring) the sound? Through speakers connected directly to your computer?

Do you have any other programs open at the same time?

What are your computer specifications? Operating system, RAM in GB (go to Windows, Control Panel, System) , soundcard?

Do you have many tracks in the Arranger? Do you have many effects applied?

You have to help out here because we can't see your computer or the program or what you have done.

I have had responses from Magix who and we've ran checks on my laptop. I've made changes to it but still having the same issues, but the last paragraph they emailed (below) is the telling one i think ;

"Please note that generally your sound hardware doesn't fully meet the requirements for this kind of software. We recommend using a dedicated sound hardware, which could e.g. be a PCI plug-in card for desktop PCs or an external audio interface (USB or FireWire connection) for laptops. Unfortunately, on-board audio solutions are often inadequate when it comes to using audio software and performing home-recording tasks."

With regards to sound, i have it coming from a speaker using the jack from my laptop - nothing elaborate (the sound issues occur even with no external audio device. The only things i have plugged into my computer are a mouse and my midi keyboard (again, the audio issues occur without these plugegd in). i have 1TB hard drive and 8gb memory. Windows 8, 2.16ghz processor. I can't seem to find out what sound card i have, other than my laptop uses RealTek Hight Def Audio.

I can have up to 16 tracks running at any one time, but again, the audio issues occur even if i have 4 or 5, and i never use the effects on any of the tracks.

I truly appreciate your help, and i apologise sincerely for being slightly for my lack of knowledge.
