How to zoom in while staying in restrains of cropped image

hofno wrote on 11/22/2012, 7:47 PM

hi!

my take consists of several video footages being played at the same time while each of them is cropped so they do not overlap, nor do i use any alpha layers or smthin similiar. the screen in my preview vindow basically looks like consisting of say three boxes of diferent size which play they own cropped content sourcing it fromthree separate video footages. (sorry im just trying to make myself clear)

now, i was trying to zoom in to onw of these "boxes" whilie keeping the spacial restrictions of the box. however, whenever i aply "zoom to" effect the footage starts stretching over whole screen thus over other boxes as well...

is there any way i could zoom while staying in a restrictions defined by the "size" and "position" movement effects? i am using movie ediet pro MX premium

thanks

I think that there has always been a problem (meaning sorry can't do) trying to apply these two effects 'size & position' and 'section and zoom' at the same time. A similar issue arises I think with zooms at non original proportions. IIRC there is no direct solution but there is a reasonably easy workaround:

You need to export a separate video of your video with the zoom applied, and then use it at the size and position you require along with the other clips.

Hi

Is this what you are looking for:

There are certain 'rules' and 'restrictions' in getting this effect because the images/video on tracks 2 and 3 are hiding the rest of the track 1 object when it 'zooms'-

1.  The images/video are resized only - No Section (Cropping) settings are used it appears to be mutually exclusive with Size Position

2.  The image/video to be zoomed must be on the lowest track number of the 'set'

3.  You must apply the zoom manually using keyframes - do not use the Camera/Zoom options

This is a the timeline of the above movie

All images are resized and positioned relative to each other for the starting point.

The zooming image/video on track 1 has keyframes added manually as shown to change the Width of the image/video and the Top and Left values changed so the object 'zooms' to the area required.

HTH
