How to re-enter Activation Code for HEVC encoder?

pmikep wrote on 10/27/2015, 5:01 AM

Solved: See below.

So, I decided to buy the optional HEVC encoder for 5 USD. I gave Magix my credit card info and got an Activation Code, as I have before with other add-ons. I copied and pasted the Code from Magix's email to me into the field for the codec, as I have for other add-ons.. It phoned home (on the Internet) and then reported that the Code was invalid. Error -14. But it doesn't allow me to re-enter the code! I sent a request to Support. In the meantime, any ideas how to fix? (And a warning to anyone else who might try this codec.)

MEP Plus 2016, 15.0.0.77; Win 7 Home, 64-bit, SP1 + patches

Started with MEP 11, then 17, then MX, then MEP 2013, 2015, then 2016. Changed to the fast competitor after that, which worked fine with my non-Intel hardware. Then bought a used Dell with an Intel GPU, just to play with MEP again. Installed MEP 2020 Plus in March 2020, even tho I don't like losing patches if I have to reinstall after a year.

Testing on a Dell Vostro, <s>i3-8100</s> updated to i5-9400 w/ UHD 630, 16 GB 2400 DDR4 (CL15), Win10 Home, heavily NTLite'd. Now with GTX-1650 Super OC'd. Added a WD Blue M.2 for OS (PCIe 3), Apps, Temps and Video-In. 2 Monitors. A WD Blue SSD for outputs. (SATA III.)

Hi

. . . . And a warning to anyone else who might try this codec.) . . . .

I do not think this is an issue with MEP or codec activation.

I suspect you have hit the file corruption issue that can occur when upgrading to Windows 10 which causes various issues with several Magix products.

To fix this you need to re-install MEP following this procedure.

Hi:

Well that might be an issue for those who have upgraded to Win10. But I am on Win7.

I was able to activate the download edition of MEP Plus 2016 just fine a few days ago when I installed it.

Hi

Apologies I was posting on two similar questions at the same time and cross posted.

Did you copy the activation code direct from the email you received?

If so you may have included an extra space which gets pasted into the code field and gives an error.
