How to increase bit-rate of 720p BluRay encoder settings without error.

I have successfully burned a Blu Ray disc using the AVC Preset 'Blu-ray HD' and the changing the frame-type to 'Progressive'.

HOWEVER, I would like to increase the bit-rate from the default (for the 'Blu-ray HD' preset -see attached image) of 19,999kbps to something higher, more like 25,000-30,000kbps. Thus far, in all my attempts to raise the bit-rate, the encoding fails/terminates within the first 10 seconds after I initiate the burn. I have tried various permutations of the following combinations (along with the increased bit-rate)and failed every time: Multipass, singlepass, CBR, Target-rate, and increasing the LEVEL to 4 & 5 respectively.

Can someone tell me how to increase the bit-rate on my 720p Blu-ray encoding? My source video has a very high bit-rate so I'd like to increase my output a little from the default.

Additionally, I'd like to point out that not all of the features available on the advanced sections of the encoders are documented so that makes it difficult for an amateur user like myself to solve these kinds of problems witout asking lots of questions online.

Thank you, jeremy

Hi

While you are using a Variable bitrate setting,I cannot see any point in trying to specify the bitrates as they are suggested/max limits which may overrriden by MEPs analysis of the video during encoding.

Another factor involved is the levels setting.

The levels setting  can be changed however you have to be sure that the player can play the level set - see this article .

From the levels table I read that,  for a 720p video at 60fps, the bitrate max is 20000kbps for Main profile and 25000kbps for High profile.

I would suggest that the bitrate you are using is already is more than adequate and that you will not notice the difference when played back on a TV.
