One thing you could watch out for, is that the Playback Area is set to the length of time you want:

The Playback Area is the yellow bar that goes across the top of the Arranger area (the area where you place all of the pieces of sounds, etc). It has what looks like "bookends" that are yellowish colour trapezoid blocks on the ends of the thick yellow line, all across the top area there.

Make sure to move the end point (the right end 'piece') to where you would like the music to 'stop', even if the music and sounds in the Arranger area go past that point, underneath.

Then, when you go Export....MP3 and choose (put a checkmark in) "Only export the range between start and end markers" it will only utilize the portion indicated by 'that yellow bar with the bookends' (called the "Playback Area").

I tested this with MMM and placed a simple 10 second audio compilation in the Arranger Area.
Then I adjusted the right end piece of the Playback Area (thick yellow bar) to the 6 second indicator.
I then Exported to MP3 and placed a checkmark in the "Only export the range between start and end markers" and clicked OK.
MMM then exported a 6s MP3 file (not the full 10s of the musical piece).
Hopefully, it will do the same for you!
