I have Movie Studio 2023, I am totally new to using this. is there a tutorial on how to create karaoke videos?

I can add text to an existing video but can't display it across multiple frames? how to do? how do I cut a certain area of the video and fill it w/a color or image?

thanks.

Methods would vary.

What I is use is a program to display Karaoke from a MIDI file (Either Vanbasco or GNMIDI). This program can display text on a black background. While the program is playing, I use Orbs Studio to screen record the result (with audio).

I prefer GNMIDI because this has a bouncing ball for the syllables.

I place this video on a track directly below the track that contains the video I want to superimpose the words into.

Then I import the video into Movie Studio 2023. I use Section to crop to only display the part of the video containing the words.

Then on the video with the words (the one recorded with Orbs Studio), I use the Chroma Key effect to make anything that is black transparent.

The result is the words on the background like Karaoke

Hi

. . . . I can add text to an existing video but can't display it across multiple frames?  . . . .

This would suggest you are working in Storyboard mode, if so switch to Timeline mode, this is easier to work with and you can stretch your titles (text) as long as you wish.

Below is a short sample of a 'Karaoke' style video song for a German class. I did not use the 'normal' jumping circle to indicate the words as the students needed to read ahead the text.

The text background was a blue rectangle with the transprency handle pulled almost all the way down and the moving indicator was a second blue rectangle with the transparency set to about 50%.

The layout was:

Track:

  1. Images
  2. text background blue image
  3. moving text indicator image - movement animated by keyframing Size and position effect
  4. Text - multiple titles appearing as required in sync with the lyrics.
  5. Audio file (WAV format)

there are many other ways of doing this with and without 3rd party software
