If you want to improve your system's performance for Movie Edit Pro, especially with AVCHD editing, you'd definitely benefit from a quad core system and a graphics card with more video RAM (at least 512 MB). Make sure your display mode is actually set to hardware acceleration in the program settings (which it should be by default). While you're editing, try to turn off all software you don't really need. This doesn't mean just other applications, but also background tasks that are not needed for the program and essential system functionality. You might want to go into your msconfig (via the "Run..." command of Window) and weed out some stuff under the "Startup" tab.
Hi,
Your system sounds fine enough for Movie Edit Pro though I agree with Ralftaro I'd like to see more video memory. There are some other important things that will help.
1. Update your system drivers!!!Especially your video and sound. Go to the manufactures website and download and install the driver for each component. After you have installed fresh drivers apply the most recent service pack - even if you already have it; install it again after the driver update. This will return core system files to their newest versions.
2. Check your task manager for programs that are not just taking CPU but also memory - look for the real memory hogs and shut them down. Also check your Commit Charge in the performance tab of task manager. The peak (bottom left) should not be higher than your physical memory. If it is you have a problem... sounds like you have plenty of physical memory though.
Also try using Microsoft Movie Maker - it comes FREE with Windows XP and it will give you an idea if your problem is Magix or your computer.
