how does one edit the audio waveform in Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus?

In all other video editing programs I've used in the past, I've been able to show the audio waveform and adjust the audio level.  I am able to adjust the audio level for the entire clip but how do I adjust the level for only a small portion?  More specifically, in the video I'm editing, there are periodic noises that are clearly visable on the waveform.  I would like to drip the audo by a few dbs when the noise starts to where it ends, then have the audio level revert back.  It seems that I should be able to grab the level, drag it up or down with the mouse.  How can I get into this mode?

I may have accidently found the answer, I right clicked the mouse, clicked on volume curve.  I was then able to make a mark on the green line, made a second mark and drug the volume level down.  This is totally different from the older versions of MEP I am used to.  Am I doing the right thing?

Hi

. . . . I was then able to make a mark on the green line, made a second mark and drug the volume level down . . . .

This is one of several ways of adjusting the volume:-

Volume curve - allows you to draw a range of different audio levels eg for lowering the volume in a section of the audio as shown below

Volume Control

Drag the indicated handle below to adjust the volume level of the audio

Set Volume option

Right click the audio to set the volume to a preset level as shown below

Volume reduction

This is the reverse of the above in that it reduces the volume of all the other audio objects in the project to the level and for the duration specified - right click the audio and set the options in the dialog that opens
