How do you get sharp text in MEP15 Pro when zooming past the text?

smithb3 wrote on 11/17/2011, 7:29 AM

I'm trying to create the feel that the text is "flying off" the screen.  To do this, I simply zoomed in past the text.  Unfortunately when doing this, the quality of the text degrade and pixelate.  How do I create that affect without the pixelating of the text?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

You can do it in several ways. Staying with the basic approach you're using, there are several points, but the key one is the first:

1. Set your text font to a large value. (I used Arial Black size 100 in the demo below.)

2. Carefully adjust the position set by your second key frame so that it centres a relatively empty part of the text, i.e. a space between letters.

3. Use trial/error to determine the zoom level for your 1st and 2nd key frame. I used MEP17 which has a zoom slider, not included in MEP15, and my values were 65 and 700 respectively. Try a roughly similar ratio.

Here's a YouTube link to my example:

Another method would be to simply make your text externally in your image editor, again using a high resolution, and then apply similar KFA to that above.

Please let me know if that helps. We're just users like you, and feedback is appreciated.

Oh well, another entry for my 'Don't answer any more questions from this user' list!

How hard is it to click the mouse to say 'Thanks'?
