The MVD is no movie file, but a Project file containing adjustments etc. to the Original file. You must click Burn on top to come to the DVD burning process.
If you want other file types, as Quicktime, WMV go to File > Export movie >

You need to open that file into the MAGIX software and either export it out as a MPEG-2 or a AVI file. You can also burn directly from within the software.

As "asoeli" stated, MVD is the project file, it is not the video itself, just the edits, and additions made to the project, where the video/audio is found on the computer... basically it is a EDL file or Edit Decision List.

That file is only recognized by MAGIX.
