How do I install Magix Music Maker on my E: drive instead of C: drive?

shadl wrote on 1/24/2014, 2:16 PM

Hi,

My main C: drive on my homebuilt computer is a small SSD.  Rather than installing Magix Music Maker 2013 on my expensive SSD, I tried installing it on my E: regular drive.  But it never worked.  I open it and it can't find any instruments.  I changed the directory's to their proper place in the E: dirve, but still not working?

I need help?

Thanks,

Shad

I hope youu have the disc version.....if so, uninstall all Magix from C....insert disc into E and fire it up.  Should do OK, but a question ....the SSD is probably a bazillion biat drive, why don't you just leave Magix there

Hi

When the installer starts up you may be offered the option to do a Custom install - if so select this and then change the install location to the E drive.

I do have the disc version.  I have tried loading the installer and setting it to install on my E: drive, but it is still not working. (I'd be fine with installing the program on the SSD--though I don't think it really needs the speed--but I certainly don't want all the soundpools and instruments taking up so much valuable space on my smallest -- and most expensive--drive.  Make sense?)

I just got done re-installing the program on my E:drive.  I opened it up and get this message:

"Magix Vita - File Not Found.  Vita could not find the YT-MX Acoustic Piano Norm XA0 in image file YT-MAGIX Acoustic Pianos."

Help?

Hi

Check that the VST plug in paths are correct.

Note even though you install the bulk of the program onto the E drive, there are some components which are still installed to the C drive usually in the Program Data and AppData folders (Win 7 and 8)

I have all of the paths set to their correct location...I think (see immage).  I open up Vita - Magix Synth Track 1 open the drop down menu that let's me select "load".  This opens a window that brings up the Vita directory.  I open any one of the folders and select any one of the  .vita files and click open.  Then the "Magix Vita - File Not Found" window comes up again.

Why can't it find the files when I have already found them for it?

It sounds buggy to me.

Well, as Johnbaker suggests, and I atold you.......ALL old Magix on C needs to be removed.  That is critical., and Magix files can be stuck all over the place in file names that can be mis-leading....Installation manager, Music Editor, things such as these.  If I had to list the majority of issues with Magix, the number 1 would be...."Can I sell my composistion if I used Magix stuff  ? "...number 2 is " All i was doing there was just sitting and the all of a sudden all my Soundpools went to shit.  What do I do now ?"...and number 3 is issues with VITA...all kinds of issues.  Somehow Magix needs to figure out a way to make its availability, well, avalible....people can't find the path, can't openn it, gget it confused with VST.  I know it doesn't make you feeel any better, but you are not alone
