How do I enable vertical scrolling when viewing a web page?

lee-w wrote on 1/6/2022, 10:43 AM

Just purchased Web Designer Premium ver. 18. I created a web page. When attempting to preview it, it appeared as a very skinny page, displaying the entire page on my browser. Like most web pages, I expected a full width page with a vertical scroll bar allowing me to scroll the page. How do I turn on verticall scrolling? Thanks.

@lee-w

Hi

If you are using the Preview page option from within the program, this sounds like you are viewing the mobile version of the web page - ensure you have the 'Main' version selected to view the page correctly in the preview browser.

Thank you John for responding. I have looked and looked but am unable to find where to select the 'main' version. Please help again. Thanks, Lee.

@Lee-Wise

Hi

Do you have 2 accounts in the forum - ie lee-w and Lee-Wise if so please note that multiple accounts are not allowed under the Community rules - link is at the bottom of the page.

If the template you started with is not a 'supersite', then you should have at least 2 tabs in the project window - see red circled tabs in the image below.

I didn't create two accounts intentionally. One email provider is going away next month, and I am trying to move over to another email provider. Sorry about that.

Thanks, Jeff, but I have already emailed Magix with that issue. I hope they can get it straightened out for me.

Back to John EB's second response... I had to start with a new file, since I cannot download anything from the magix website. Please see my other post. Meanwhile, I have tried creating just a rectangle on a single page. I find that I cannot make the rectangle scroll, either. Also, I cannot make sense of the page definitions either. If I specify a page width of 1200 pixels and a height of 900 pixels. I see in the design window a vertical rectangle, not a horizontal rectangle.

FYI, I have a 500-page website on line using html, css, and javascript. I'm not exactly a newbee to web page design. I was hoping to make a template that I could use to crank out pages faster. Web Designer Premium is presenting a challenge, not a fast solution...

Taking a step backwards - was this created with Xara Web Designer, another program, or is it a WordPress, Joomla, Drupal or other CMS (PHP/MySQL) based site?

John,

I wrote the code myself. It was done with HTML, CSS, and Javascript. It is all custom code, and is a genealogy website. The URL is https://www.christliebfamilyassociation.com You will see that my blog uses Wordpress, but it is not used very much at all.

Folks,

I am still waiting for suggestions on how to enable vertical scrolling for a web page designed in Web Designer Premium.

Thanks!
