How do I connect my MIDI to my computer and make it work with Magix Music Maker 2014 Premium?

I'm having trouble on how to hook up my MIDI to connect with my laptop and keyboard can someone help me figure this out by telling me step by step?

I have a WINDOWS 8 LAPTOP, YAMAHA S90 KEYBOARD and a MIDI with 3 components, a MIDI INPUT/OUTPUT at one end and a USB to connect to my laptop. I have every thing hooked up but its still not connecting am I doing something wrong?

On my keyboard I have it set up to MIDI setttings, now how do I set it up on my computer I went in the software and did everything I thought I was suppose to do with the MIDI setting. on my keyboard I have my channel set to 1 and the software set to 1, on the software I have the MIDI INPUT: USB2.0-MIDI and the OUTPUT: MIDIOUT2 ( USB2.0-MIDI). It Seem not to work.

Also on my MIDI I have a remote that the cable goes thru, on the remote it has a MIDI light, OUT light and a IN light. I don't know if any of you guy have one or not or maybe you guys know what I'm talking about. Well anyway the only light that's on is the IN light, shouldn't all lights be one, what do I do about that? My cable is freshly brand new and I have 2 others that does the same thing.

Make sure that your keyboard is connected to the computer and turned on before starting MMM.

FYI, MIDI, short for Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a technical standard that describes a protocol, digital interface and connectors and allows a wide variety of electronic musical instruments, computers and other related devices to connect and communicate with one another. It is not an object. What do you mean by your "MIDI"?

There are many Q&A's in the forum about connecting a keyboard. Do some searching.
