I got the task to make sure the music worked in the movie we are doing at my school. Now, its a horror movie like, so we want to amplify sounds such as heavy breathing, footsteps etc. How is that done? All helpful answers wanted:)
There are a number of ways to affect the volume of objects and tracks in MMM. How you do it depends on the results you want.
From your question, it sounds like you are asking mainly about individual objects. If you click on an object, you will see a line with three boxes or diamonds appear. This line shows the object volume level.
One method is to click and hold the middle (volume) box and drag it up or down to alter the volume level. The boxes at each end are to control fade-in and fade-out.
To control object volumes incrementally, go to the object pull-down menu at the bottom right corner of the object...
(Object menu) > Volume > Set Volume
Then, choose the volume level (in dB's) you want.
Another method is to go to the object menu and choose Normalize. This will maximize the volume of the audio object short of creating distortion. Once this is done, it cannot be undone unless you hit Undo immediately afterwards. However, you can then further control its volume using the methods mentioned previously.
For a soundtrack you should also play with the panorama and place your noises, sounds... etc. exactly where you want the audience to hear (feel) them... use stereoprocessor to do so...
Need some more horror sounds... send message...
P.S.:
