How can I fix latency issues?

philipawad wrote on 3/21/2012, 2:22 PM

When I try to use a keyboard or drum pad (both korg nanokey2 and nanopad2 respectively), or even the built in on screen keyboard, I suffer from about 0.5-1 second of latency. Is this likely to be because the software (Magix Music Maker MX Premium) is poor, or because of my laptop?

Laptop - Toshiba Satellite Pro

Software - Magix Music Maker MX Premium (Version 18)

It may be a software related issue. Choose File->Settings->Program Settings from the main menu. Then in Audio/MIDI tab change synthesizer latency value to HIGHER - in fact it will increase the MIDI buffer resulting in faster response (ofc to some point, then it will increase). If you use ASIO you can also choose it instead of Direct Sound. It's much faster. Don't use Wave Driver unless you have problems with direct sound.

Hi

Please refer to this tutorial by nihon94

http://www.magix.info/uk/how-to-solve-latency-problem.online-training.130215.html

There are many othe tutorials in the tutorials section which I would suggest you take some time browsing through.  A lot of the problems you may encounter have already been dealt with by nihon94 and Procyon to name but 2 of the many contibutors.
