How? Auditioning effects in Realtime - before and during recording?

I am using Samplitude Pro X4 and am finding it very frustrating to audition plugin effects before I press the record button. The plugins load fine and pop up to view. But no audio ever seems to pass through them until after I have recorded. Absolutely annoying and pointless. An answer (in the very short term) would be very appreciated.

This flaw, is putting me off using the program, which in spite of this, works real well. I just wish this was a function that was made by default like other apps. For now I desperately need a remedy. Before I completely abandon using Samplitude at all.

What version am I using? It's the latest version. However this has been a problem with every version I have had. will not audition plugins.

My thoughts: Insert an effect, arm the track to record and one expects to hear the input audio as well as the auditioning of the effect before committing audio to a take.

Check your monitoring mode. Press the "Y" key and go to Audio Setup. Look where it says "Monitoring / Engine Mode". This effects how live things are heard vs how recorded things are heard. Sometimes it can affect plugins. try different options and see if one of them helps you. Here's what mine looks like:

Thank you! That was so easy and worked immediately. Why is this not the default setting? Crazy. But hey, I am completely back on track. :)

Glad it worked ! Yeah they seem to push Hybrid mode. It causes a lot of input delay when I'm working with VST instruments. I've found Software/Track FX monitoring works best for me. Happy mixing !

Almost had me giving up completely on Samplitude. Have been using it now since 2017. Really liked doing all my midi records etc in it. Does an awesome job. Love the editting features. But this dilemma has prevented me from starting projects in it while I was looking for sounds on my guitar while playing live. I had to have Amplitube running in the background as a standalone just to audition. Then hope I played the same thing the same way while listening to it "dry recording" So frustrating. Almost a pointles excercise. Not now though. Finally have my faith restored completely.

Thank you so much for this again. I'll back to it while I'm on a flow :)
