Do you want to change the background at a DVD-menue?

If so, click at Edit (1), then at Edit (2). At Background Design (3) you have many backgrounds, or you can use your own pictures.                  (This is from MEP MX)

Hi,

It really depends on the back ground you want to use. If you just want to put an image, a video or something else as the background, just drop it on a track below your main video, then adjust the video level to where you want it to be using the slider on the video track.

I think Georg's suggestion makes an interesting effect but won't selectively remove the background. As the video level  is adjusted the clip becomes more transparent everywhere.

Complete removal of a background pretty much requires planning and a specific shooting technique, 'green screen' when filming the original. The foreground subject is captured again a plain green field which is made transparent using 'Effect' >> 'Video effects' >> "Chroma key'. The new background is placed on a high (lower number) track to be visible where the main clip is green.
