Help to find a store in Europe to purchase a specific camcorder

Kami_1 wrote on 12/1/2022, 6:00 PM

Hi, I was using and loved the Panasonic V380 for a few years. The zoom has become essential for me. About a year ago, the cam stopped working. The only replacement I could get is the V180.

I've been on waiting lists for over a year with two U.S. camera outlets for replacement V380 or even V580, but they're not being shipped. So I thought of asking here if there is camera store anywhere overseas who might have either or these cams in stock, and is willing to ship to the U.S. Hoping for a reply on this, as I've found no other cam with the zoom range.

Hi Kami,

This is a very unusual post for the Magix user forums and I will confess, my initial reaction was either, that it was not really appropriate for these forums or, that it should be moved to the Video Products area. However, I have left it here (though it may be that another moderator may see fit to move it!)

The V380 is listed on Amazon UK, here. I would assume that Amazon US would therefore be able to supply it to you? That same Amazon page lists other UK suppliers who might be willing to ship to US.

@Kami_1, @emmrecs

Hi Kami

This is a difficult one as there has been a severe shortage of video camera stock coming out originally due to Covid and then a fire about a year ago at a plant in Taiwan that manufactured sensors for many camera manufacturers.

The companies I use in the UK do not ship to the US.

I checked BHP and they are awaiting stock for quite a few Panasonic models.

If you like the Panasonic cameras you may want to have a look at what Sony have available with similar features - some Panasonic cameras use Sony sensors.

I personally prefer Sony to Panasonic.

Added:

I see Jeff got in just before me. Jeff - the post is, IMO, fine here, though on second thoughts it will get lost - I will move it to the Video forum

Thank you both!! I just made a purchase on Amazon-UK -- ships to U.S. Jeff, sorry this isn't right forum -- I was desperate.

Hi John!

Sony doesn't have the long zoom which the Panasonic has. In desperation, I had purchased and have been using the older V180, which has the same zoom but a much smaller LCD window. I wish I'd thought of purchasing in a European outlet, but I didn't know that Amazon has a UK outlet.

Thanks again, and have a great holiday season!!
