Help learning how to setup hardware/software to record multiple tracks simultanesouly

I want to know what hardware is necessary to record multiple tracks simultaneously on seperate tracks. I.E. ... a drum kit. I want 5 tracks to be dedicated to drums seperately, so I can adjust different variants from the drums.....

that's kind of the problem i'm having right now...

my solution for myself is either an electric drum set with a midi out on it and a midi in on my computer, or drum triggers on each piece of the drum set all going into a midi converter then into my computer.

it's not the actual drum sounds produced by the drums, but i personally think it sounds just as good and all the drummers that listen to my stuff can't seem to tell the difference. This method let's you break apart even the individual drum beats them selves let alone the toms from the snare and what not.
