Having all sorts of problems with Music Maker 2014 Premium

joe.beckeriii wrote on 3/13/2014, 12:13 AM

First off, if I record anything longer than two minutes, it gets cut off and automatically loops.  Secondly, shorter takes that were perfect when I saved them, are suddenly broken up and looped when I reopen the program later.  Am getting increasingly frustrated with this product and since getting any tech support from the company requires me to know everything about my computer except its mother's maiden name, I'm really hoping someone out there can help me.

The computer"s maiden name is Kim Kardashian.  Your welcome....actually Magix has a littale program called Syscheck tht you can download and it tests a bunch of stuff and sends the results to Magix that helps them help you.  You may have to do a simple repair run.  Not picking on you, but it amazes me how many post on this forum state, and I quote...."it was working (insert time frame here...hour ago...day ago ....last time I used it) and now it doesnt work any more."...and the only person using the program was you.

Hi

In addition to gnarly's answer, it may also help if you give more details about your computer system and Windows version.

What changed between it last working and the first time it stopped working - ie any new software installed, windows update, hardware change etc.

John

Haha, thanks for the help, guys.  I think I'm slowly figuring some stuff out.  Still not entirely sure what I did that caused the takes to split up like that without any tinkering on my part, but I'm assuming I must have screwed up the settings while I was recording.

However, I have come across another baffling aspect that isn't answered in the instructional video or user's manual.  I am trying to split or cut takes into sections so I can adjust the volume and sound.  However, whenever I try either method (cut object or split object), everything after the split/cut gets replaced by the piece before the cut.  It's a little awkward to describe, but think of it this way: if the take is 1 minute long and I'm cutting it at the 30-second mark, instead of being left with Seconds 1-30 and Seconds 31-60, I'm left with Seconds 1-30 and Seconds 1-30.  Am I doing something wrong or is there a setting I need to adjust?

Not trying to put you off....but as Johnebaker alludes to, those of us whom try tohelp you need  more information, such as what program...is your "take" a live you or samples from soundpools, exported CD music ?....etc...etc

Also, athe Help files cover this type of stuff rather well  and the more you do your own reseaarch, the smarter you become...and them you help others just as we are helping you...or trying to...let us know

Totally agree with you man, I'll definitely double check the manual.  As for the info, I'm running Music Maker 2014 Premium on an  HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium and an Intel Core Duo processor.  The takes I'm referring to are live takes I've recorded using a microphone.  Like I said, I'll definitely dbl check the manual and help sections, but if you have any advice, let me know.

Read through the manual twice and the Help tab was no help at all.  Looked for that Syscheck download and couldn't find it anywhere.  Had to scrap yet another complete take because it got completely fucked after I split it one time.  More or less completely out of patience with this program.
