I've read a lot about Hardware Encoding and the issues Magix has with it, but in the process I've learned that their professional-grade software (Video Pro X) supposedly solved the issue with NVENC and Nvidia cards and hardware encoding should now work correctly.
So I downloaded the software and am using a Trial Version to test it out. The problem is... Hardware Encoding doesn't seem to work. If I export using H.264 with Hardware Encoding ticked on, the export box shows "(no Hardware Encoding)" and the rendering process goes slowly as expected. I can't even try HEVC to see if that works because that apparently isn't covered by the Trial license.
My question is: what's the problem? I have a GTX 980M which supports NVENC. In fact, I use NVENC in OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) to great success. But not in Video Pro X for some reason? I only have the dedicated graphics card in my system (no integrated graphics).
I'm on version 16.0.1.236. As I understand, that's not the latest version but I have no idea how to update. Does anyone know?
