They make special screens for this, but they can be expensive. The main thing to remember about Chroma-key is lighting. Everything must be well lit ... (the screen)as well as the subject).
When I do Chroma-key sets, I use a minimum of four lights, two which are left and right of the chroma-key screen stand shinning on it so there are no shadows, and two lights on the subject so there are no shadows.
The green screen I have is something like a velour or velvet material, it is a chartruse green , very bright like the block in this sentence. When recording, you also need to make sure that the subject is not wearing green, as it will calculate that in as well.
You can use any material, but, wrinkles are bad and so are thin (sheer) materials where light shines through or objects can be seen through the material from a distance. They also make chroma-key paint so you could make a chroma-key room... but you need a love for the green.
