I am using Music Maker 27.0.2.28 and Gater is missing... it's in the users guide.. CTRL G does not bring it up, it is not in the right-click menu of a sound object, it is not in the Effects menu at the top... what am I missing here?

Ctrl + G is Group - it is Shift + G to activate Gator it is also available under Effects, Audio, Audio effects - the manual has a typo error.

That and the manual extract suggest that you are running the free version of Music Maker, or you have not installed all the extras - see in the Store they should be there.
Gator is in the Plus FX Advanced Sound Processing pack.
