Hi Graham.

The fonts that display in MEP/VPX title editor are any/all those which are installed on your computer, in my experience.  Are you sure that you're selecting the one you wish to use, i.e does it appear by name in the Font box?  Sometimes, it is possible to "view" a font by name (in the drop-down list) but not have it actually become the chosen font for use.

If the named font is clearly listed in the font box of the title editor but you cannot see it being applied to the title then I don't really know what to suggest, unless...

Do you select the font before you begin to type the text?  If so, the chosen font should be the one applied!  Or do you choose to select the font after you have typed the text (which is something I often do)?  In this case you must make sure the actual text of the title is highlighted on the edit screen in order to have MEP apply the new font.

BTW, which version of MEP are you running?  Such information is always useful to we fellow-users who might hope to help you.

HTH

Jeff

Hi Jeff

I was entering the title before selecting the type face.  Selecting the type face first seems to work on all the fonts that I have just tried so that seems to solve the problem.

It is a pitty though that it does not allow you to change the font after making the title.  Many times I  will edit a film and apply titles coming back on the final edit and change the font and point size.

Many thanks for your information and I will now change my work pattern

My program is

Many thanks

Draham,

You can certainly change the font after making the title. Simply select the text in the preview window and pick a new font -- it's the standard Window method as used in a word processor etc. What may not be obvious is just how to select the text...

A single click in the preview window selects the title for changing size and position of the whole:

A double click selects (by default all) the text for editing:

Here I've selected parts of the text and applied several different fonts. You can as easily select parts for effects (bold & italic etc) or color.

Carl. .

Hi Carl

Thank you for your reply

I have been able to modify titles in a film as you indicate the problem stems from certain fonts not displaying in the selected font after editing.  The wording appears to default to a Sans Serif type face.

Using the pre-selection of the font as suggested by Jeff it now works fine, but coming back to modify a type face seems not to work with some fonts.

It may be that I have some suspect fonts on my machine so what I will do is when I get the problem again I will take a screen grab and post it on this link.

Again many thanks

Graham,

(Not Durham, sorry) A suggestion:

Go to your font folder, usually C:/Windows/Fonts, and see if there is anything different about the files of fonts that misbehave. I've never experienced your problem but there seem to be differences in the listings even if tey are identified as true type.

Hi

Thanks to you all for your help.

I discovered over the weekend that I have some special fonts in an animation program which are showing in the Windows font list as shortcuts back to the program.

It appears to be these that are the ones that cause the problem.

But setting the type face first or when changing the type face double clicking seems to work. the majority of the time.

Again thanks for your help

Kind regards

Graham
