Film size running total?

Hello,

I have a 15 minute video, which is just over 500mb. I want to upload it to Vimeo, but there is a 500mb limit. So what I want to do is monitor the reduction in size of my video as I am editing it, to get it below this 500mb limit. But I can't find a command which gives me this "running total".

Any suggestions?

Many thanks

Hi

There is no function as you descrribe in MEP.  The final video size depends on the export or burn settings you set during either of these steps.

What format settings are you using for export ?

Are you exporting then uploading the resulting video file to Vimeo or a re you using MEP's own upload option?

Hi John,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes, I first exported to have a look at the finished result, which is 571mb WMV file. Would MEP's upload option give me the choice of bringing that file size down??

Hi

MEP offers only SD and HD options for uploading to Vimeo.  Vimeo has a guide for file types and settings which are acceptable here.

If you want to use HD then the length of your video will be restricted to the 500mb limit - I assume you have the basic Vimeo account.

The other option is to export as mp4 and try the different options in the top drop down box to match Vimeo's requirements - if you try the Flash options these may also create a web page and other components to play the video - you only need the mp4 for Vimeo.

Added:  I have exported a nine minute video from MEP using the MEP upload option set to HD and the file size is 137 Mb, and the quality is good.  Your 15 min video should come well inside the 500Mb limit.

HTH
