File Format of Newly Purchased Soundpool Not Recognized

Wanderlust wrote on 3/29/2017, 9:50 PM

I just purchased a new sound pool using the built in store in Music Maker(latest version downloaded a couple days ago and fully updated). When I went to listen to loops, they wouldn't play. When I double-clicked one an error window popped up saying the file format couldn't be read by MMM.

For some reason the file extensions on all of the loops in the soundpool are .MXCOGG instead of .wav or other readable format. Did I miss a step when I purchased the additional soundloops? All of the free ones that come with the full installation seem to be working fine.

Hi

AFAICS Soundpool files should have either the .wav or .ogg file extension.

Which Soundpool did you purchase?

. . . . Did I miss a step when I purchased the additional soundloops? . . . .

When you purchase from the Magix store inside MMM did the soundpool download and install automatically?

The Sound pool was Score - Lost Spaces.

It appeared to download normally, and even added it and all of the loops to the menu on the right with all of the existing loops, but I get that error whenever I try to play one.

Hi

. . . Score - Lost Spaces . . .

If you wish you can try the following:

Make a backup copy of the Lost Space soundpool which should be in

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Soundpools

Then use a program such as Advanced Renamer (my preferred batch renaming program) or Bulk Rename to batch change the file extension .mxcogg to .ogg and see if they are now recognised correctly.

I actually went in and changed a handful of the loops to .ogg extension and they still wouldn't open. I sent a ticket to the Magix support group, but I haven't heard back. I had a few other pools I wanted to get, but I won't dare if I can't get the first $30 one to work. :(

I had exactly the same problem yesterday......You might find that the msi (key) file is missing,

Wanderlust wrote on 3/31/2017, 2:23 PM

Is there a way to fix it? I tried going back to the in-program store, but when I click on the soundpool it wants me to pay again.

There is definitely a Magix error...Ticket submission seems to be our only option my friend....I think that they need to allow us a link to download again.

Hi

@ rick-wilcox

. . . . You might find that the msi (key) file is missing . . .

Not all soundpools installed have msi (key) files associated with them and they function correctly without one.

The msi (key) file is for Windows MSI Installer to do a self repair, or repair when run manually, on an installed package or program.
