Hi @ AmigaMan

Granted you cant do real 4k as u are truly 8bit

Video Pro X can do 10bit processing, encoding and monitor output.

Perhaps I'm out of the loop and some of these are probably not doable but here's my wishlist:
Compositing app included. Hitfilm Pro, maybe? I would like something like shake: Nodal, maybe Layers also.. A rendering engine with a front-end GUI that integrates into the app. It doesn't have to have all the duper 3d projection stuff of Nuke, but things like masking out for keys, etc.

More integration with Xara and Sequoiatude(s) would be good, much like how Apple did final cut studio, or Adobe does their CC.

Maybe license the matrox keyer that they used for the Axio - it was so awesome, could key off any color, and live-keyed as good as an ultimatte box imho.

Live broadcasting and recording abilities.. multi-host: capture card, gigE, webcam, desktop capture, etc. Graphics and captions, picture in picture, realtime transitions and keying.. I mention it because livestreaming is so common now - maybe VPX already has this functionality?

All included audio royalty/commercial-free. Include vouchers for catooh and/or sony production tracks for songs, fx, stock footage, etc.

More title templates

More fx plugins

that's all I've got!

Hello.
I am new to the forum but I have been using Magix Pro X since version 3.
I am trying to work out how to do secondary color correction to more than one area.
For example, if I correct the sky in an image, how do I then select another section for a separate change.
Is this possible? When I select "Add Foreground" and do one correction, I can't select another section without altering the one I have just done.
I wish Magic Bullet could be put back so I don't need to install Pro X 6 to get the effect.
It is a great effect that needs to be returned.
I hope to have some goof input into the forum.
Doug

Hi @DugsBugs, welcome to the Magix forums.

This thread is for users to suggest features to be introduced to the next major update of VPX. A substantial part of your post is really about how to use an existing feature. As such, it should be in its own thread so please edit your existing post and then post your question on secondary colour correction as a new topic. That way, you are more likely to receive helpful replies.

@emmrecs I think @dugsbugs is requesting the feature to be able to do more than just one secondary color correction. Currently it can only be done by either exporting and re-importing the clip to put a second effect on it or you could maybe put the clip in a separate film which you then pull in a second film so you can add a second effect to it. Both methods are a bit cumbersome and indirect. By allowing vpx to stack effects arbitrarily it would be easier and more intuitive to achieve this. I too would appreciate the possibility to do more than just one secondary color correction.

DugsBugs wrote on 9/5/2017, 5:45 PM

Sorry for the confusion.I did actually post as a new thread and not a reply. I am still working the format out.
As far as extra features to the program go, it has been mentioned already that it is pointless adding more until the bugs and crashing issues are fixed.
It's great having all the bells and whistles but unless they work then it's not much use.
Don't get me wrong. I love using the program but it has also given me a lot of grief over the years.
I can't bring myself to learn another program so I have stuck with it.
Thanks Again.

I would also add that the color correction issue could also be taken as an added feature suggestion along with bringing back Magic Bullet.
Thanks

@DugsBugs

EDIT: See my first post, point E.4. I now have Magic Bullet Quick Looks. It shows up under Effects, Extra effects.

By Magic Bullet, which one do you mean? Quick Looks? If so, it is very rudimentary, missing the tools to modify the presets. However, you should have it already. There was a very for photos issued with Xara a couple of versions ago that has the full completment of tools, and there is a version for video with similar tools that came with a competing nle a few years ago. This is the one that I would like to have with VPX.

Alternatively, you can purchase Pixelan FilmTouch 2.0 Pro, which is even better than the Magix Bullet Looks that I mentioned. It has some masking abilities and more tools for colour-grading than you will likely ever need.

Your request for multiple colour-correction is interesting. You can do it now by exporting the clip as mxv file, importing it, and adding a colour correction to that one. Thus you can do multiple passes. But, stacking the same effect would be an interesting addition.

Additional improvements to my 2 previous lists:

B.2 Do not remove Mercalli V4 ability from any future version unless it comes with the version. This happened with MEP 2017 and Vegas 15 and the users are very unhappy. There was no improvement to Mercalli but users are told that the Mercalli license only works with the previous version of the nle and that they would have to purchase a new license for the nle, or a full license. This is just wrong. There was no improvement to Mercalli and it should continue to work in newer versions of the nle.

B.3 Do not reduce or remove design effects or presets as one user in the German forum requested. He may not use them, but others do. We should have at least everything that MEPP has (except a tab for the Store).

C.6 The new proprietary format of ogg files, mxcOGG, should be able to be read by all Magix products that can read audio files, not just MusicMaker. This ability should be sent out in a patch.

D.19 Markers - add ability to have project markers or better object markers that are linked to an object and move with the object. Presently, inserting objects upstream and moving everything to the right leaves the Project marker in its previous location, and out of sync with where it was intended to be. All other Project markers to the right are also out of sync.

D.20 Audio - add ability to copy/paste audio effects from one object to another, similar to this feature for video, with the ability to select the effect(s) to be copied.

F General:

1. Fix this forum. I was logged out again upon posting the above. This is extremely annoying.

2. Reduce the time lag between new features coming out in MEP and when they come in VPX. Right now, it seems to be about 6 months. The Update Service seems to be very weak in this aspect.

Hello,

May I suggest something very important for me in Video Pro X.

  1. Possibility to use Cuda to accelerate the encoding phase.
  2. Possibility to make a "rendering" in batch.

@danielpaulus

CUDA has now been dropped from all current NVidia cards (I think any later than older cards from the GTX5 series) so the inclusion of it in any update to VPX is highly unlikely, I think.

Can you explain what you mean by "rendering in batch" and exactly how this would work? I'm afraid I can't envisage a situation where batch rendering of video files might be useful. Or am I missing something very obvious?? Very possibly.

I do have Quick looks but I Have to install it from my pro x 6 disc. It seemed to disappear From pro x 7 and above.
I am going to try saving multiple color passes as separate effects to try that, I don't like processing the same clip too many times

Hi guys why not let the 2018 version use the Windows Explorer with all its funktionality like Vegas do instead of the Pro X media Explorer ❓ now it looks rather Linux to me 😰

Regards Svendus

Unless they start merging duties, I think the Magix and Vegas have separate teams working on the softwares. I think Vegas are basically SCS/Sonic Foundry guys in Wisconsin, while the Magix coders are in Germany.. Hopefully the merger will lead to sufficient revenues for both programs to improve, share features, but maintain their uniqueness.

This is already available in MEP and VPX via the file menu (Shortcut S). See page 281 of the VPX Pdf manual.

Your request for multiple colour-correction is interesting. You can do it now by exporting the clip as mxv file, importing it, and adding a colour correction to that one.

You can do a little more than that at present - you can apply a change to more elements or colours/shades by subsequent clicks with the dropper tool, but you can only apply one colour correction to all the selections.

Further, you can apply 2 different corrections by choosing foreground and then background.

Mathias,

One of the things that users always ask for is to fix the bugs. The latest patch 176 fixed some things and broke others, and left behind some other bugs. So before going to new features, please, please get the developers to fix the current version!

Another thing, the development of MEP seems to be almost a year ahead of VPX. Why is this?

Various improvements:

The number input boxes for decimal numbers (in e.g. the rotation effect) doesn't behave as one would expect. Backspace or del doesn't always remove a decimal and entering a decimal is sometimes not possible, even when there should be enough room left.

Allow to put key-frames on the correct-horizon slider (under rotation effects)

Let the statusbar show various types of information while hovering the mouse over the project- or preview monitor e.g. x,y coordinates, rgb, yuv triplets etc. as is common in graphics programs.

brightness control for the vectorscope and waveform monitors. I find the da vinci ones e.g. much easier to read. Maybe there should be a different relationship between the number of pixels with a particular luma or color and the brightness of the pixel on the monitor. E.g. a logarithmic relationship would show subtle details more clearly and prevent big blobs of bright pixels, overshadowing the others.

Hi everybody,

that is definitely plenty feedback I can forward to our developers. This is why I close this post now. Of course, you still can write me pm's and I'll make sure your feedback is heard by the responsible team.

For now: Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to this post! 🙂👍

I hope, we can start such feedback rounds a lot more in the future – for other products as well.

Best regards
