like present version for not crashing ... previous was stopping with a msvcr120.dll access error for long bruray 3d renderings... but processing 3d bluray in half of usual time when rendering short (<20 min) blurays & using graphics processor

present version is now back to previous 3d bluray processing speed (boo) & hasn't crashed yet (YAY!!).. also now using graphics card for processing instead of straining & cooking the main motherboard processor

Hi.

I am not sure but it seems that I cannot export HEVC using HW acceleration anymore. Feature was working on previous version. I have NVIDIA GTX 970.

--

Idea: It would be useful if effect tab toolbar could be resized horizontally. Now some NewBlue V4... items texts are not visible.

--

Idea: It would be very useful to group media by date similar way than in Windows Explorer. When I am working, I usually look for recently modified files.

--

Otherwise initially looks good.

Hi,

The version is greatly improved, missing some features that could help to accelerate the work, such as the ability to send only the video in the timeline / audio / both.
A question: why when there is an upgrade does not appear a list of what has been added so as not to have to search for the network improvements made? I upgrade, this is installed, but I don't know what has changed.

However, I have repeatedly sent a list of possible improvements, some of which have also been added.

Thanks a lot.
Regards.

The multi-cam bug I reported for the previous version (audio fade out over a clip), and which I was advised by support was being cured in this release, is still there in version .288.

Since my type of work depends heavily on multi-cam, VPX remains largely unusable for me. This version took 3 months to surface, seemingly because you were adding new 'bells and whistles' rather than sorting out known defects; I wonder how long the next release will be? And will multi-cam work properly even then?

Can I please be given access to an old version where you know multi-cam works (pre-268)?

PS The attached file shows Tracks 1&2 and the audio fade imposed by the malfunction as I switch between 4 sources. I will of course provide any further information you need to cure this issue.

Hi everybody,

we just released another version: 16.0.2.291.

  • Fixed: HEVC GPU export
  • Fixed: minor crashes

Greetings from the Video Pro X team.

erkki.salonen wrote on 11/9/2018, 12:52 AM

Hi. Confirming that HEVC GPU now works on my machine when using 16.0.2.291.

erkki.salonen wrote on 11/9/2018, 1:01 AM

One minor idea about color grading... It would be useful to select rectangle area that monitors will show. Then user would select area around person face. Then adjusting skin tone with vectorscope would be easier. Now same can be achieved by selecting section that covers the face. Once adjust is complete, remove section.

Recycler wrote on 11/9/2018, 5:37 AM

I'm glad that .291 solved Erkki's HEVC GPU issue, but sadly have to report that multi-cam is still broken.

Why is it not possible to export to ProRes in the current version?

emmrecs wrote on 11/13/2018, 4:14 AM

@Michal-MST

Have you checked the options available under the "Export movie>Video as Intermediate Codec"? I've never used this but there are a variety of options there, at least some of which seem to be the equivalent of ProRes.

Jeff

Win 10 Pro 64 bit, Intel i7 Quad Core 6700K @ 4GHz, 32 GB RAM, NVidia GTX 1660TI and Intel HD530 Graphics, MOTU 8-Pre f/w audio interface, VPX, MEP, Music Maker, PhotoStory Deluxe, Photo Manager Deluxe, Xara 3D Maker 7, Samplitude Pro X7 Suite, Reaper, Adobe Audition 3, CS6 and CC, 2 x Canon HG10 cameras, 1 x Canon EOS 600D, Akaso EK7000 Pro Action Cam

@emmrecs

I ask out of curiosity. Intermediate actually seems like a codec to ProRes

Indeed. I agree. Have you tested with an export using that codec? As I wrote, I've never needed to use ProRes, but reading such information as I could quickly find on it, "Intermediate Codec" seems to be one of its "key" words. Hence, my suggestion. Especially since the "ProRes" spec actually seems to include a wide variety of frame sizes, bit rates, frame rates, formats, etc..

Win 10 Pro 64 bit, Intel i7 Quad Core 6700K @ 4GHz, 32 GB RAM, NVidia GTX 1660TI and Intel HD530 Graphics, MOTU 8-Pre f/w audio interface, VPX, MEP, Music Maker, PhotoStory Deluxe, Photo Manager Deluxe, Xara 3D Maker 7, Samplitude Pro X7 Suite, Reaper, Adobe Audition 3, CS6 and CC, 2 x Canon HG10 cameras, 1 x Canon EOS 600D, Akaso EK7000 Pro Action Cam

Just checking a couple of things in the new patch 298.

Fixed: Interface with Samplitude now works. Exporting from Samplitude Pro X3 to VPX brings the file onto the timeline. Thank you! One less to fix.

@MAGIX_Redaktion

Mathias,

I really like some of the new features - layer colours, designating target track for importing, and flexible track handling.

However, we still have the outstanding list of problems that need to be resolved. Here is the updated list using patch 298:

  1. Fix the preview of icons under Templates, Design Elements, Collages - presently shows only the Cover icon - collage.png for all collages because the Icons folder is missing;
  2. Fix the preview of icons under Templates, Image Objects - Test Images and Backgrounds. The Icons folders are missing;
  3. Import tab: Link to the folder under MAGIX Tools for XAR is missing (or has this been eliminated?); Alternative - add in a folder to Design Elements for these;
  4. On-going problem: Right-click on the audio part of a video object, no command for "Edit in external editor." This has been an intermittent problem, sometimes it's there in a version or patch, sometimes not. It's there for wave files and proxies, but not for my videos clips that are mov, mts, and mp4 files. We need to be able to send out the audio to an external editor for cleaning.
  5. NewBlue OFX effects still blacking out preview screen

  6. Multi-Cam issues:

    Sometimes, although a waveform is copied into track 2 as you watch, there is no audio heard. Nor is any heard when you switch back out of multicam, nor if the result is exported. Track 2 is marked as unmuted all this time.

    Even more odd, if you step rigorously through the four available channels on the monitor (cyclically top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, top left, etc.), the sound display corresponding to the top left "camera" always fades to zero at its right hand side, but not immediately after you've cut to top right, only when you've gone round to bottom left. In fact, there's another inconsistency in that as you cut from top right to bottom left, you don't see the cut visually appear on Track 1 until after you've gone on to bottom right; all other cuts appear immediately. Also, it proves impossible to drag any cut leftwards which is preceded by a volume fadeout.

  7. Still problem on my Surface Pro 4 - Templates tab: The vertical scroll bar cannot be dragged up and down, only sideways to expand/contract the listing window. The mouse indicator changes to a left/right arrow. No problem on desktop - non-touch screen.

  8. HitFilm - OFX like Gleam, Radial Blur, Zoom Blur - keyframing X and Y fail. The numbers go crazy, up to infinity.

  9. NewBlue Plugins - Resolved?

  10. External Audio Editor - Audio & Music Lab and Video Sound Cleaning Lab (VSCL - to be confirmed) no longer save and bring the modified file onto the timeline.Edit Trimmer - additional bugs:

  11. Object and Edit Trimmers: The right arrow button for Object content only moves 1 frame when pressed repeatedly, as does the bottom right arrow to change position of start in point in target movie. Using Ctrl+Alt+left click moves it 5 frames, so it is not because there is no room. There are workarounds. For the Edit trimmer only: pressing on the top right arrows (move transition) seem to unlock the single frame arrows for the two other arrows. In the attached video, for the Edit trimmer, it may be that the Object Content is supposed to always be at 0, even if the clip has been trimmed. I would like to know if it is supposed to be 0 or supposed to be the number of frames available at the left end of the clip. Magix please comment.

  12. Object and Edit Trimmers: part 2 (see image below) Problem with #1: left arrow when using Ctrl+Alt to move 5 frames at a time - the transition moves as the clip gets longer, but the audio part stays and everything goes out of sync.

    Under #7: the right arrow moves the clip to the left opening up a gap to the next object. Should the objects not all move to the left as well? (Note that there was a correction done recently for the left arrow so that all objects to the right and below moved.) EDIT: This happens when using Ctrl+Alt to move 5 frames at a time. It was difficult for me to confirm with single click on the arrow as it usually sticks (but not always) after 1 frame, if that. Once the gap has opened up, clicking on the right arrow extends the right object and pushes the other objects over, but Ctrl+Alt does not - it closes the gap and then creates an overlap. So single click and Ctrl+Alt click have different results.

    #6 and the fast forward buttons at the bottom, middle right (#15), moving the range start in the timeline shows what is happening in the transition when something other than crossfade has been selected. With crossfade it only shows the left object and then jumps to the right object as soon as the marker is moved to the start of the transition, and only shows the right object images, no transition.

    Sometimes the range is incorrectly shown and starts with the beginning of the left object and goes to the correct location just after the transition. If the Edit Trimmer is activated where there is no transition, it shows a short transition range. Using the bottom arrow with scissors goes to the next interface which is a transition, and shows the same range length instead of the correct range length for the actual transition.

    #15: Clicking on the ff/rewind buttons moves the transition zone itself in the timeline, along with the playback marker. Clicking on either of the leftmost 2 buttons to view the range, moves it back to the correct location. Subsequently pressing on the ff/rewind buttons moves the playback marker but not the range. Something is wrong here. Further playing around and the ff/rewind buttons changed the images but did not move the playback marker (or the range) anymore. These buttons need review and correction.

    Errors in the manuals about the Edit Trimmer (pdf and chm).

  13. Still missing in action is the new feature:

    Object extraction: Exactly like you'd imagine.
    Video Pro X's new object extraction algorithm makes it possible to recognize
    and extract objects from videos. Magix, where is this?

  14. Updated manual - once again, new features, no updated manual. At least an update to the chm file would be welcome.

Anyone see anything else?

John CB

Good catch.

Clicking on "Download my Store content..." did nothing that I could see. Maybe I have everything. I'm not going to try the Delete.

Hi everybody,

we just released another version: 16.0.2.291.

  • Fixed: HEVC GPU export
  • Fixed: minor crashes

Greetings from the Video Pro X team.

Can you please look closely at the Multicam feature, do you guys actually use the software to understand what is wrong with it? I recommend you do if you don't, Multicam is terrible at the moment.

I'm running an I7 8700k with 630UHD graphics onboard graphics and a GTX1070 and 16GB ram, SSD.

Also, playback in normal mode with proxy files active is terrible.... if you speed up or slow down the footage it is very jerky..... like seriously jerky, I would blame it on my system but none of my resources is ever above 15 to 20 per cent load, it is this software and I need it fixed please. For your information I am using the onboard graphics as using the GTX is even worse.

See attached video for a couple of issues I caught in the act, more to follow

browj2 wrote on 11/16/2018, 8:35 AM

@warren-Loomes

Until this is fixed, can you not just delete the audio that is put on track 2 and replace it with the master? It won't have the cuts, but then one usually doesn't need them. The audio on track 2 is just a copy of whichever audio file you selected to be the master.

I could but for now, the fastest way I fix it is, drag the footage and audio over the footage and audio next door and release and then drag it back into its slot and its fine again, its just very annoying and time-consuming, the software is insanely slow right now and I can't figure it out, you make one action and it just sits there for 5 seconds before catching up, the PC is brand new and it was fine before now.....thanks for the suggestion
