External VST

I am using the free version of Music Maker version 29.0.1.16 with 64 bit Windows 10 and have purchased the VST Support and VST Bridge feature options. I have added the directory where the VST are in but only one out of many are available in the mixer. For example, only the "BC Free AMP VST" shows up in the mixer using the FX button then the "+" add button then VST FX -> Blue Cat Audio -> BC Free Amp VST (32 Bit). There are 32 bit and 64 bit VST in the folders and subfolders. Is there way to see what is causing the problem or are there limitations on what VST's Music Maker can load?

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

First, are all those VSTs you show in your screenshot VST Effects or are some of them VST Instruments? Effects should show in the mixer, instruments should show in the Instruments panel.

I am not aware of any limitations on what VSTs MM can load. OTOH, not all VSTs are created equal and their availability within any specific program cannot be guaranteed.

One further thought: did any of those VSTs come as part of the installation of a different program, e.g. Cubase, or similar. If so, it is entirely possible they are "locked" to that program.

For future reference, it is often considerably cheaper in the long run, to upgrade your version of MM to Plus or, even better Premium, and thus have automatic access to ALL the features , instruments, soundpools offered in the "full" package.

HTH

Thanks. Moving the appropriate VST to C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins made them work. This matches one of the existing C:\Users\<NAME>\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\mm29\VstScanSetup_x64.ini entries. Not sure why adding a VST path was not working.

[1] I have similar problem like @OP.

I am a long time user of Samplitude Producer v.11.5 (SP115). Now I am evaluating Samplitude Music Studio 2021 (SMS2021). Let aside that I did not notice any important improvement, I noticed that SMS2021 ignores virtually every my old VST instrument.

This is true sometimes.

But also not all DAWs are made equal and if every other DAW works, including older version od Magix's DAW, and this one does not - then problems is maybe not in VSTi but in DAW?

Add to that the fact that I didn't find any improvement in SMS2021 in compare to 10 years old SP115 and this could sound a bit strange. Yet it costs €100! (upgrade was €50). OK I agree there are some cosmetic changes which unified 3 types of menu GUIs in old version.

Also, I am trying to use HGFortune's instruments, which are, let's say, of decent quality?

[3] @OP's solution with moving VST to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins" does not help - first I evaluate 64-bit SMS2021. Second there is no "C:\Program Files\Vstplugins" folder. Third, I found a folder named like that in "C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Samplitude Music Studio\2021\VstPlugins" but SMS2021 does not react.

However, file "C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Samplitude Music Studio\2021\VstPlugins_x64.ini" does list them, here is a part of a list:

:Vendor:AUDIO PLUGIN UNION
...etc...
"D:\VST\HGFortune\HGF-AvatarST.dll",4
"D:\VST\HGFortune\HGF-DrumBurst.dll",4
"D:\VST\HGFortune\HGF-LaserBlade.dll",4
"D:\VST\HGFortune\HGF-Plutonia.dll",4
...etc...

So, SMS2021 does see them, does register them, but it doesn't offer them for use.

What could be the problem?

Windows 10, 64-bit, SMS2021 64-bit, these VSTi are 32-bit.

@SoMdoom

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

You have posted to a thread about Music Maker with a question about Samplitude Music Studio. For future reference, Please do not do this but rather create a new thread with your question.

However, in this case I think the answer lies in your final sentence:

Windows 10, 64-bit, SMS2021 64-bit, these VSTi are 32-bit.

Unless Samplitude MS includes, by default, a "bridge" to allow 32 bit VSTs or VSTis to operate in a 64 bit program, you will never be able to use them! This is NOT a fault with the software (SMS), simply a limitation of the operating system.

If there is not a default bridge within the software, have a look at jBridge.

@emmrecs

Hi, can i control cubase and use VST instruments which are in Cubase through Magix Music Maker 2021 Premium edition? Thank you....

SP. wrote on 8/12/2021, 6:23 AM

@Lubomir-Rabatin Magix Music Maker can insert Rewire-enabled applications as an instrument. But I don't know if Cubase can be loaded up as an Rewire-client inside Music Maker. Maybe you can try a virtual MIDI cable like http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html or https://www.nerds.de/en/loopbe1.html as a MIDI output in Music Maker.

...and please how i can try to rewire it? Is it standard "VST plugin path scan" ? Or?

@Lubomir-Rabatin This text is from the Music Maker help (F1)

ReWire-compatible client applications (like, for example, Propellerheads Reason) can be integrated into MAGIX Music Maker as synthesizers.

Activate the ReWire function in the Project settings ("A") under the Synchronization tab.

Afterwards, installed ReWire applications can be loaded as instruments into a track. All ReWire client applications appear as individual sections in the selection menu for software instruments in the track header and in the MIDI editor and are loaded as software instruments (VSTi).

Several client applications can be opened automatically by right clicking on their name in the selection menu, just as you can open the plug-in window for VST instruments by right clicking. ReWire clients which support the direct opening of the client application via the host application (MAGIX Music Maker) need to be started manually. You can do this by starting your client application as you would normally. It then automatically recognizes the host and starts in a special client mode. The client application should always be launched after MAGIX Music Maker and should be closed before exiting.

The ReWire application can be controlled via MIDI, just like a software instrument. The client application runs, starts, and stops synchronously with the time position in MAGIX Music Maker so that you can also use the sequencer in the client application.

The "classic" MIDI channel of MIDI notes and events is not important; it is replaced by the ReWire MIDI bus system. MAGIX Music Maker only sends to the ReWire MIDI bus and only supports the ReWire master output-side, not the ReWire audio bus system.
