Exporting Audio to Dolby Digital

Hi there.  I'm using Magix Movie Edit Pro 17hd and would like to know the following:

1.  How do I export a movie to Dolby Digital sound?  If the soundtrack is not DD, will the program allow me to export it to such?   I have a Sony Camcorder that records in DD Stereo, but when I burn the project to disc, it is PCM .  i have activated all the codexes but I'm not using MPEG 4

2. Does this verson of the program allowe to mix in 5.1 and export it to such?

Hi

What is the sound format for the camera - Stereo or 5.1 Surround Sound?

At some point you may have been asked to activate the Dolby Digital codec - can you remember which one?

For Dolby 5.1 surround - you need to change the audio codec in the Burn dialog to AC3 and select the required - the image shows the sequence.

Hi

In answer to question 2) - Yes it does, regardless of the original format.

You will need to open the Mixer (M) and select the 5.1 button to the upper right, then double click the speaker arrangement graphic above the mixer sliders for the track in question and then you can move the stereo source around so that it is distributed to the other speakers, etc. Best to read the Help files or PDF manual on Surround sound.

Hi there.

Thank you for the help.  I'm must be doing something wrong as I have openend the mixer and cannot see the 5.1 button.  I have registered both 5.1 and DD stereo codecs.  My camcorder is Dolby Digital stereo.  I have Movie Edit pro 17hd and not the plus version - could this be  the reason why?   The audio settings only allow for stereo or joint stereo, not 5.1

Think I have sorted the DD stereo issue, just the 5.1 now.

Only the plus version allows DD 5.1.
