I have the microphone plugged into my Steinberg preamp, all the settings are correct, and the computer sound system tells me everything is connected properly, except when I speak into the microphone, nothing shows up on Sound Forge Pro 17. No recording. NOTHING.
Yes, I watched the (outdated) tutorials. No help at all.
This should not be this difficult to get started. When I used Hindenberg, I just plugged in and it worked.

@Barnet-Sherman Did you allow the microphone access for all programs in the Windows security settings? Otherwise Windows will not allow recording.
Thank you for the suggestion and Yes to all of the above. I had to reboot my computer to get Sound Forge 17 to (finally) work.
Now if I could only find where I can change the stereo record option to mono record, I'd be half functional on this app.
