Evaluating X15 trial - severe limitations

sonic_assassin wrote on 11/13/2023, 3:40 PM

Howdy from a long-time Magix 2013 user! - does anyone still remember that version :)

Just trying out X15 trial. Its screen capture seems not to like my Win10 sound card, unlike the freebie Audacity, which offers me WASAPI as an 'out of the box' option. Whereas Magix semingly hope I'll pay out £72 for a program that offers no flexible sound recording options at all. Also, I can't do any editing tests using my camcorder MPEG-4 footage. This does not inspire product confidence, although of course I could do different tests with (say) WMV stuff, I suppose.

Anyway, thanks if anyone can help on the audio capture issue!

Hi

. . . . Its screen capture seems not to like my Win10 sound card . . . .

Ensure the Stereo mixer is enabled in the Windows Sound settings, then select this as the recording source in VPX 15 - I would also suggest you turn off all the system sounds, otherwise you will get them recorded as well.

If this is HEVC/h.265 encoded, do you have the Microsoft HEVC decoder pack installed?

If you want to export as HEVC then the encoder should be available once you have the full version of the program, you may need to activate it.

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

To add to @johnebaker comment.

The Stereo Mix option in Windows sound settings, go to.

Windows / System / Settings / Sound / Sound Control Panel / Recording, is normally set to hidden by default. If it is not showing, to show and activate it, within the Recording section, right click with the mouse and make sure that the appropriate boxes are ticked and set the Stereo Mix option to Default communication device. On some motherboards it may go under the name of 'What you hear'.

The Microsoft HEVC decoder pack is available from the Microsoft app store for a small fee.
