error messages

I'm suddenly unable to record: get this error msg when I hit "record" - An error occurred while recording. A device is not available. After that, a second msg pops up - One or more audio playback devices do not support the current sample rate and/or bit-depth. A device is not available.

Computer is a two year old Lenovo laptop running Windows 10

Any suggestions?

@Michael-Tauss First suggestion, restart the computer. Second suggestion, right click on the speaker icon in the bottom right corner of the Windows task bar, then select Sounds to open the Windows sound settings. Go to the playback options and right click on your playback device and open the properties. There you can adjust the sample rate. It must be the same as your recording sample rate in Sound Forge. You can also enable that programs can change the sample rate themselves, without doing it manually in these settings. This is recommended.

Hi @Michael-Tauss,
Are you using a internal soundcard or an external interface?
After checking your PC's 'record' sound settings, open the Sound Forge menu "Options> Preferences> Audio" and select the audio device for 'record'. For internal soundcards, Sound Mapper or Classic Wave Driver usually work good.
