Error Code -59 Restart Required?

trent-bowers wrote on 4/5/2019, 8:48 PM

Hi, I am using MAGIX Music Maker Live on Windows 10, I have not opened it in a long time and when I opened it up today it gave me error code

-59. The error recommended a reinstallation of the software, however I am not sure how to do this. Other threads said to use the installer, but I don't know where to find the installer; assuming it is in the computer's files. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi there,

If you really wanted to resolve the problem using this particular version and installer again, you'd always find the installers for your registered products in your account on the main MAGIX website. Here's the link for your particular product:

http://dl03.magix.net/musicmaker2017live_dlm.exe

This problem you're experiencing is an issue with the copy-protection/DRM system of the software. Typically, a simple uninstallation/reinstallation actually won't be enough, since there are some files the survive the uninstallation process. With this particular issue, you'd also need to make sure to at least find and delete the "installation.ini" file that is left behind by the program's uninstallation under the sub folder under "C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\" for this Music Maker version. You can also scrap the entire contents of that sub folder.

That having been said, what I would actually recommend is taking advantage of the free upgrade option you have to the most current Music Maker product generation. MAGIX has changed the complete concept for the Music Maker product line to  work like a "Freemium" model. This means there's a basic edition of the most recent Music Maker version that is available to everybody free of charge. You can download and install it from the following address:

http://dl03.magix.net/musicmaker.exe

This version will then continue to receive updates with improvements and new features, and will essentially always be up-to-date. Within this free version, you can unlock exactly the features, instruments and audio content you want through the built-in store system. As an owner of a previous, paid-for version of Music Maker (going back to Music Maker generation MX/18), you would be able to enter your existing serial number into this free version, which will give you access to the features and instruments that were part of your particular Music Maker version. So, this way, you get to use what you paid for, while at the same time getting to use the most recent Music Maker version that will work on the most recent Windows versions. This version also no longer uses the old copy-protection. So, this will be the last "error code -59" you've ever seen in your life. Treasure the experience. 😉

Hope this helps!

Hi! Thanks for the answer! One last question, how do you check your serial number? As I purchased my previous copy digitally.

@trent-bowers

One last question, how do you check your serial number? As I purchased my previous copy digitally.

The serial number would have been printed on the email you were sent when you originally bought the software! I would guess that you may not still have that email?

However, if you have a Magix account and registered the software the serial number/registration key should be shown on your account, under "My Products". This page should allow you to log into your account.
