@Leo-Hendriks

Hi

Have you burned other projects successfully before this one?

What is the version number of Movie Edit Pro 2022?

What video formats are on the timeline of the project you are trying to burn?

If you have any MXV - Magix's custom video format - on the timeline see this topic.

A screenshot of the timeline may help.

Hello John,

Great such a quick reply, thanks ...

I'm currently trying to get acquainted with the burning function to be honest ;-). The error is only with DVD, burning a Blue-ray works fine, without errors.

I'm using Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium, Version 21.0.1.119 (UDP3)

All videos on the timeline are .AVI files

Hope this helps, thanks again...

Hi

. . . . All videos on the timeline are .AVI files . . . .

Are these file VP9 encoded?

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

Hi John,

This the text output I got. The link in your message apparently does not work ;-). Anyway, I hope this is what you want to know. Thanks again ;-), Leo

@Leo-Hendriks

Not sure what has happened to that tutorial that @johnebaker linked. It's definitely here.

However, that screenshot from MediaInfo is exactly what is needed!

One piece of data from that screenshot strikes me immediately, the Audio Sampling Frequency. 32kHz is NOT the standard for audio-for-video; 48kHz is. I wonder whether it is this that is causing the problem?

You could check this out by using something like Handbrake to convert the audio to 48kHz and then adding the altered file to your timeline, removing the original and attempting the burn again.

I did notice you say burning to BD is successful, even with this unusual sample rate.

Thanks for the heads up - some extraneous characters were attached to the end of the URL - link is now correct.

Hi

. . . .  The error is only with DVD, burning a Blue-ray works fine, without errors. . . .

That would rule out any edits made on the timeline.

I have been experimenting with various formats of AVI file and manged to produce one crash, however it was not with a DV_AVI file as you are using.

Can you try the following:

  1. With Movie Edit Pro (MEP) closed - use Windows file explorer type %appdata%\MAGIX\ in the location bar as shown below and press Enter

  2. Select the folder Videodeluxenn_version where nn = a 2 digit number and _version is Plus, Premium or does not exist (Basic version)

  3. Delete or rename the file videodeluxe.log

  4. Start MEP, load the project and try to burn to DVD again.

  5. If the program crashes go back to the videodeluxe.log file, open it with Notepad and locate the start of the Burn data - it should be similar to, this however your should have some errors in it - copy the lines starting from

2022/02/22 11:08:24 [INFO]    [UserAction]: Switch main tab to Brenntab

to a few lines after the errors and post them in your reply.

Hello,

Many thanks for sharing all this information!!! I consider it as a speed course in solving video file mysteries ;-). To make a long story short: I got a DVD that works straight from MEP!

These are my discoveries:

  • The 32kHz soundtrack seems to be the problem. I used Handbreak to re-encode to 48kHz
  • See attachment to see the results, Handbreak came up with .M4V files
  • Mixing down after setting up a DVD went fine (that was where the former error occurred, it apparently does not like 32kHz audio when mixing down)
  • I got a working DVD ;-).

And then ;-)

. . . .  The error is only with DVD, burning a Blue-ray works fine, without errors. . . .

  • First of all the mixing down on Blue-ray works fine with the original 32kHz audio, is there any difference compared to DVD?
  • But then... Writing to Blue-ray proceeds fine. I used a DVD+R DL, to begin with ;-)
  • It produced a disc that worked with VLC media player, so data is there, but no BD
  • And then I found out that my burner does not support Blue-ray, haha.
  • Ordered a real Blue-ray burner immediately
  • So sorry for this maybe unexpected addition ;-)

Thanks again for the great help, Leo
