Error 1603 - "32-bit and 64-bit installation folders must be different from each other"

Hello,

I am isntalling my new copy of Samplitude Music Studio 2016. I am having trouble isntalling part of the included downloadable content. I am getting Error 1603 - "32-bit and 64-bit installation folders must be different from each other". I have tried to send the error directly to Magix but it gives me another error (a server error). It only happens after downloading the plugin, when trying to install the following:

Analog Modeling Suit Plus

essentialFX plus

Vandal

Variaberb II

Anyone else encountered this?

I am using a Surface 3, Windows 10. Original version was a Music Maker live 2016/Music Studio 2016 bundle that I upgraded to Samplitude Music Studio.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

. . . . "32-bit and 64-bit installation folders must be different from each other" . . . .

Did you customise the installation folders for Music Studio ?

Nop. Not at all.

Full story (in case it helps):

1. Installed both Music Maker live 2016 and Samplitude Music Studio trials to see which one I liked the most.

2. Uninstalled them both

3. Purchased and installed disk version of MML2016 that bundled with Music Studio (not Samplitude version, plain Music Studio). Error started as I tried to install this version of MS.

4. I upgraded to Samplitude Music Studio as it has more features. Error remains.

Thats the whole story. Thanks for such a quick response.

Did you remove any remnants of the trial programs left behind?

Did the Music Studio installer crash/fail during the installation of the first part of the program?

Or did it succeed and you were able to run Music Studio and the problems arise later when installing the plugins?

Was the Windows 10 an upgrade from 8 ?

Thats actually a  good quetion. I only uninstalled from the "uninstall or change a program" menu, if there are any remnants that I should have uninstalled then I certainly haven't

Yes, software installed with no problem at all, all plugins downloaded without any issues. Problem started while installing only certain plugins.

Windows 10 came preinstalled on my PC

Try unlocking the temp folder.

Click Start, type %temp% in the Start Searchbox, and then press Enter to see the default temporary folder.

In the address bar (at the top of the window), click the folder to the left of Temp (it is named "Local" by default).
In the folder list, right-click the Temp folder, and then select Properties.
Click the Security tab, and then click Edit.
Click Add.
Type Everyone, and then click Check Names. "Everyone" should now be underlined.
Select Full Control under Allow, and then keep clickingOK to exit all windows.

@Jack_Magix hello Jack I am from New Zealand my name is Stephanie and I have just taken advantage of a magix offer of music studio 2020 premium and also as a bonus they threw and samplitude 2019 music studio. I have the same issue as the o p and I am running Windows 8.1 64 bet on an HP probook 4540s with quad core and 8 gigs of RAM in tip-top condition. I can't install due to the constant error installing the contents d32 and 64bit folders must be different from each other but I don't get an opportunity to direct them wherever and then it has to uninstall everything and you try again and you are met by the same error and I am going stir crazy. I have had no problems with FL studio PreSonus reason 10 or bitwig studio and to be quite honest I wish I had spent an extra $200 and bought the full versions of them all but none the less I have been familiar with magix for some time and I'm looking for a solution so that I can at least have my software up and running before bedtime and is currently 1:30 Saturday afternoon. I am not quite sure what you are on about above with the temporary folder but when I go into the temp folder I can see all the installation files and wonder whether I should just uninstall everything and port samplitude in before music studio ? It would seem that magics has always been extremely bloated compared to other DAWS and they seem to be breaking the music software they had 5 or 6 years ago and just rearranging it where as it works perfectly in the first place. I have only just recovered from kidney cancer and I'm on a certain amount of pain medications which are quite strong and I would appreciate some sort of feedback from anybody that's got any ideas or solutions because it's quite upsetting for anybody to shell out money no matter how big or small and then find that it just doesn't install. I couldn't get a trial of this but music studio free works perfectly and I seriously regret paying for this this morning and I'm looking for a solution kindest Stephanie

4 hours later and I had to install all additional sounds MANUALLY as both 32bit and 64bit were BOTH pointing to the 32bit folders so I had to redirect EACH one to the 64bit, VERY VERY laborious and as such I'll probably not want to purchase more but hey, it's all working. So to recap, DON'T let it install by STANDARD installation but opt for CUSTOM installation and redirect the 64bit TO the 64bit instead of 32bit. Thanks
