I'm thinking of buying Studio 16. I have a laptop and a desktop PC can I use the same licence on both machines or do I have to have two licenses?

One license for Sound Forge can be activated on a total of (2) PCs simultaneously (your desktop and laptop for instance). If Sound Forge is needed on an alternate PC, one of current activations would have to be deactivated and then re-activated on the alternate PC.
The '365' subscription version can only be activated on one (1) PC at a time.
