Empty area when making a movie because of muted track/video

how do you get rid of an empty area when making a movie because of a muted track/video that extends beyond the project length? I don't want to delete the muted track/video because I want to keep it as a reference / sync. I could just make the movie (& del the extra space later) but it'll have the extra length / size of the empty space. can you make the movie & exclude that extra space w/o deleting the tracks responsible for it?

@john-x Hi, you can select a Range using the [ & ] buttons at the bottom of the preview screen, or right & left click at the top of the timeline,

Then in the export box choose Export selected range only,

It will only export what is between the blue selected range

Can you share a full screen capture if this isn't what you need.

@john-x

An alternative would be to place it on a separate track within the project and mute the track.

You can then place it somewhere else if needed at a later date.
