Electric Guitar won't work with "Power Guitar" in Magix Music Maker 2014

wagstar wrote on 3/30/2016, 5:14 PM

I have Win7  with a Midi to USB cable that works using the keyboard and the music maker accepts the midi input, I double click on "Power Guitar" so that I can use the guitar effects while playing my own real guitar using the same midi cable and all of a sudden there is no midi input recognized and i can't use any of the guitar effects on music maker 2014.

I have the guitar plugged into my Yamaha QY100 which then has a Yamaha MIDI to USB Cable going to the PC, I can use the keyboard using Magix Music maker's sounds, but playing the guitar through it there is nothing registering on the music maker software.

Does anyone know why this would be please? Is it fixable? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi

From what you are saying you appear to be confusing guitar audio which is anaolog with midi which is digital.

The QY100 is a sequencer and does not convert an analog signal to MIDI data, it may be capable of converting audio to digital for using the USB connection.

To record the guitar you either use the line out of the QY100 to the Line In on the computer or if the QY100 is capable of analog to digital conversion, select the QY100 as the input for audio recording not midi control.

Hi John, I want to use the guitar effects inside magix music maker, the only way to connect a guitar to it is through a USB interface (to my knowledge, which could well be wrong as I am no expert) I'm using the QY100 as the interface but the only way to connect that to music maker is via a MIDI to USB cable, as the QY100 is old and isn't USB supported. this works fine with all the other sounds and voices inside the music maker accept when I open the "Power Guitar" the MIDI light doesn't even flicker when the guitar is strummec. Is there any other way to get my guitar to play Magix Music Maker's guitar effects?

Thanks again for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Scott.

Hi

The guitar has to be recorded by analog means ie through a preamp to the computers audio input or through an analog to digital converter whose output is USB and this is selected as a audio recording source in MMM.

MIDI is a pure digital control mechanism which knows nothing about nor can handle analog audio - see here for how it works.
