Edit Pro 17+: Loss of defination on DVD template

My PC is self built: # Windows 7, # Intel i7 950 3.07Ghz CPU, # Gforce GTX 570 GPU, # 12GB Ram.

I am using Movie Edit Pro 17+ download version with all the updates.

Editing, recording, etc., works fine.

But the definition of the menu when DVD is played is very bad -  the rest of the video is absolutely clear - the menu only is not clear.

I use a Magix DVD menu template and whilst editing it shows up clearly in Movie Edit Pro 17+ "Burn/Edit" screen. 

I  add the date and my logo on the left and right bottom of the template using the "Add Button" command editing the font, colour, size, etc, and clicking on the "No Link" in the button options.

However on playback the DVD menu definition is bad and the added text is even worse, almost unreadable.

My video is burnt in Standard Widescreen PAL. I have tried saving the template as a JPEG in Photo Designer and also in Photoshop and then using it as a menu background but there is no change.

The Magix DVD menu template I am using is the one with two wedding rings with "Unsere Hochzeit" on the top  (sorry don't know what the file is called).

Any one have any thoughts please?

As a test... is there a way you can create a new project, use a new template and burn to see if that template too has the same resolution problem?

I am curious to see what might be the issue with the burn or the template file itself.

Playback on what?

If you are playing back on your computer using DVD player software or Windows Media Player then this is quite likely a result of your screen resolution being much higher than the DVD resolution of 720*576.

I have tested this on my computer using the same steps as you have. On the computer it looks worse than it should, but on playback with a BD player to HD TV with up-scaling it looks good  (I cannot check it on standard widescreen).

For the text I added I used a font size of 24 and Arial, note some fonts do not scale or playback well on TV.

Similarly if you have made the text too small it does not scale well on TV.

For the logo I used a 1920*1080 png image and rescaled it to approx 20% of screen width and this too was OK

John-Auvil: As a test I burned some short videos on RW DVDs with different menu templates; though some are better than the one mentioned above, they all lack some definition and the text is still bad.

johnebaker: I use Cyberlink Power DVD 10 on my PC and it is possible that the picture may be worse due to difference in definition when played on the PC. My project is of a Zoroastrian* friend's engagement ceremony (they have a proper ceremony in which the families take part - no doubt the couple do the bended knee part on their own as well) and also the wedding. I have split the engagement and wedding onto two separate SD DVD's (won't fit otherwise).

They do not have BD or HD equipment - also they may want to send a copy to relations overseas, so better to keep everything in SD. So when DVD is played on my SD DVD player and in SD on my 43inch widescreen TV, the actual recording of the event is very clear -  but there is still definition problem with the DVD menu. On a scale of 1=bad and 10=good, the menu background is about 8 (passable) and the text is about 4 (almost unreadable). It is possible that my text is too small as it is just my name and date on bottom left corner of Ariel size 8 without being too obtrusive. The logo is png but again resized to fit at bottom right corner. I will try with larger font and logo and see what happens.

Perhaps I should clarify.

When I say the text and logo is unclear,  I do not mean they are so because of the small size - they are is not that small.

I mean that the image of the text/logo is actually fuzzy and lacks definition.
