Your software used to be so easy to use. I am disturbed by how complicated it has become. I used sound forge 5.0 for more than a decade and loved it. With this version even the most simple function seems complicated.
Exactly what simple function seems complicated? If you do not understand a re-designed function, perhaps we can help.
The basic Sound Forge user interface has remained the same since SF 4, The Plug-in Chainer was changed to a modal design with (SCS) SF-11 along with the record UI. There have been other minor changes as well from SF-5. Most recently, the 'FX Favorites' menu name was changed and the 'Organize' item was dropped in favor of a "Plug-in manager" in the View menu. Otherwise, I would agree the plug-in manger menu is a mess. However a single plug-ins can be accessed directly, which could not be done before adding the plug-in to the 'Favorites' folder.
btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community @Daniel-Givin.
The idea of an event tool is different. Once I figured that out, the simple functionality I was seeking fell into place. Also, the manual helped. Thanks for your quick response. I do not like learning new software.
Gaps ???. Are the gaps rendered as such, or just in preview? Does this happen with PCM files or just lossy file types like MP3. Can you post an audio file and/or a screenshot of the timeline? Which iZ Elements plug-in.. there are many. SF Pro includes Ozone and RX , SF Audio Studio only includes Ozone. Other iZ Elements series plugs are purchased separately.
The original waveform is broken into equally spaced sections with a gap between. I believe there is info on this. It said the solution is to authenticate iZotope again. How do you do that? This is all new to me. I stayed offline and did not use email for very many years. I had computers that I built and was perfectly content using Windows 98 and Windows 2000 with Cool Edit Pro and Sound Forge 5.0. Unfortunately, that is no longer feasible. So, if I want to continue to record music and videos, I will have to endure the aggravation of dealing with something I am extremely uncomfortable with. Things have gotten very complex and there is way too much information out there. It is difficult to find the right information. I would really like for this part of the software to function. From what I can tell from listening to one of the short segments, the mastering software is very effective, as has been many aspects of Sound Forge. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This occurs with all the included iZotope elements.
I have no read of that behavior with iZ plug-ins,, it may be an iZ trial version behavior.. If that is the case, you need to activate Ozone (assuming that is the plug-in you have.. The activation code for Ozone should be in the email Magix sent you when you purchased Sound Forge. The activation aerial codes for Sound Forge and the iZ plugt-in(s) are different so your Sound Forge code will not work to activate Ozone..btw.your PC must be connected to the internet to activate Ozone..
hi @Daniel-Givin...i think @rraud is right here--it seems you haven't activated your izotope plugins...if you haven't activated them with the serial number given (it's not the same serial number as SF, the iZotope numbers are not interchangeable) then the plugin will remain in 'demo mode' which leaves gaps in the audio. you can always get your izotope serial number from Magix Support if you need it again.
I have a serial number. It was never asked for. What is happening is definitely program intent. The question becomes, where do I enter the serial number? Thanks for your response. These demo versions drive me crazy. I would rather go into an actual physical store and purchase software. The iZotope elements are an add on to try and entice you to buy their expensive complete product. Everything has become a sales pitch. It is like drugs. We will give you your first taste for free, but if you want the "good stuff" you will have to pay.
I reloaded the application. Made sure that I was online. When I opened Sound Forge there was something called Ozone 9 elements. When I clicked on it, it allowed me to authorize the software. I may not have seen it before. I only saw the individual mastering iZotope elements that were present. Anyway, problem solved.
