DVD-R vs. DVD+R for burning

Until now I have always used DVD-R for my burns on MEP14 and 15.  Is MEP16 different? Do I need to use DVD+R with MEP16?  Does it matter?  Why?  There is no discussion in the product instructions that I can find about uses of various blank media.  The reason for the question is that several times when I tried to burn a  DVD with MEP 16 the burn shut down early and gives a "disc is wrong format" error.  But then when I try again and select the "Use ALL" option in the window the burn completes fine on another DVD-R disc. HELP!

Hi

It should not matter which you use with MEP.

What does matter is:

1.    Whether your DVD burner can recognise the discs - all modern ones can.

2.    If older DVD players can play the format, most modern DVD and BD players can play any.

3.    The quality of the discs used.

I use DVD-R Ritek, Ridisc or Maxell discs with the G05 dye - they are playable in many DVD players I have tried including my old (10yr+) Panasonic DVD recorder.

For  initial 'proofing'  I write to DVD-RW discs, and only when satisfied with the finished movie do I  write to DVD-R
