@Julia-Huddleston

Hi.

If Vegas Edit Pro is the way you decide to go then there is a cheap Humble Bundle on offer of the last version which is pretty close to being the same as the current version for considerably less. You can still keep you old version of Vegas on the same computer that would have your authoring software.

The link is

https://www.humblebundle.com/software/vegas-pro-2024-software?hmb_source=&hmb_medium=product_tile&hmb_campaign=mosaic_section_1_layout_index_1_layout_type_threes_tile_index_2_c_vegaspro2024_softwarebundle

There is also a copy of the Magix alternative to try out full version in that bundle as well. You will have to hurry though, you have less than two days to decide.

Ray.

@Maju.M

Hi

. . . . Any Blu-Ray recorder installed in your computer will burn a Blu Ray disc with a movie in 4K quality. They just record the file, they don't check what's in those files.. . . .

This is not a Blu-ray disc, what you have burned is a plain 'Data disk', as @browj2 has commented, and the player or TV requires the capability of playing these files - most modern TV's can do this.

To clarify - when talking about a Blu-ray disc we are referring to a disc that is compliant with the international Blu-ray standard for videos/films on disc, there are also international standards for DVD and 4K UHD discs and players.

These standards govern the required file/folder structures, menu formats, support file requirements, video/audio file formats and control files that must be on the discs, ie what you called "a language understood by TV" .and players.

. . . . I was looking for a successor to DVDArchitect . . . .

There are several good ones, if I had to use a replacement for DVDA it would be the TMPGEnc Authoring Works software, it is not as sophisticated as DVDA, however it does not have, IMO, a steep learning curve.

I would advise against using DVDFab.

@browj2

Hi John

. . . . Your end result is not quite like authoring a BD or DVD, which is what DVDA does. . . . I think this one comes close, though. . . .

The Leawo software is indeed close, however after testing the software there is still a compatibilty issue.

The '4K UHD' discs it produces are not universally playable, ie the player, whether hardware or software must support the 4K UHD standard, ie h.265/HEVC encoded video in a .m2ts container file.

VLC being VLC, can play the disc, however Cyberlink (PowerDVD) dropped support late 2023, for the 4K UHD disc due to declining usage, resulting in PowerDVD 20 and later versions being unable to play the disc format.
