SF-5 is old, so it be a compatibility issue with the newer OS. Were the drives present when SF-5 was installed? FWIW, I recently installed SF 4.5 on Win 7 to check something out and it seemed to run w/o issue, don't know if the drives were ID'd though.

I wondered the same thing so I bought an IDE card and hooked up an old CD burner. That was the reason for the reinstall.

I thought that might resolve my issue if it was hardware related. If it's Software related because is Windows 10,.. that will be harder to resolve.

Is it worth $199.00 to upgrade my SF from 5 to 12?

Yes.. Definitely!
SF-11 Pro is available and SF-12 will be released soon. AS-12, the lite version, is also available, but different from the 'Pro' versions in terms of functionality, appearance and GUI. If your accustomed to SF-5, you'll feel right at home w/ SF-12 Pro... not to mention the great plug-ins that are included. (Ozone Elements, Rx Elements, Accustic Mirror and the NR-2 Noise Reduction suite) and of course the usual SF pro plug-ins pack which includes Wave Hammer, ect.
