I love your product, however is there a way i can change that? and is there also a way to program the pads to be a different drum or cymbal? thanks guys. (y)

I too own the Akai MPK mini 2, and am just becoming familiar with it. If you are wanting to program different sounds or drums to each pad, select the sound then double tap the pad you choose to program. That should work!

Hi

. . . . I love your product, however is there a way i can change that? . . . .

It is not a product issue - it is either the way you are trying to play the keyboard with the Drum Engine or a function of you keyboard.

. . . . i hold a key or a pad down trying to make a beat from the drum engine. the engine plays a whole series of notes, like a scale kinda . . . .

On the keyboards I have used with a drum engine you are supposed to press a key and release, or tap the pads, at the tempo you require to create a single drum beat.

Holding down a key or pad will play a single note for as long as the key is held down or sequence of notes or in the case of a drum engine may generate a sequence of drum sounds

. . . . there also a way to program the pads to be a different drum or cymbal? . . . .

Check your keyboard manual.  If the keyboard will allow you to reprogramme / remap the drum pads transmitted MIDI code then you can set up the keyboard pads as you wish.
