@Stefan-Fedyszyn

Hi

Assuming you are using the Magix video converter dongle that came with the program, try installing the latest driver for the appropriate dongle from here.

Hi John,

Yes I am using the Magix video converter dongle that came with the program, but which driver should I select, or should I download all as the dongle has yellow, red and white connections.

johnebaker wrote on 8/6/2021, 9:24 AM

@Stefan-Fedyszyn

Hi

The one you download depends on the body colour of the dongle - if it black with K0067 on it it is the Premium dongle.

Hi John,

The body colour of the dongle is black but has K0065 on it.

Stefan.

Hi

The Premium (K0067) driver works with K0065 dongle.

Hi John,

Will this driver conflict with any other sound and video drivers ?

Stefan.

johnebaker wrote on 8/8/2021, 11:00 AM

@Stefan-Fedyszyn

Hi

The driver will not conflict with any other drivers, it is specific for the USB converter.

Hi John,

I got to install the Premier driver and I now have vision and sound, although I did have to change audio source to MAGIX Video converter 5 as opposed to the WDM version, so thank you very much for your help.

As a matter of interest, what is the WDM version ?

Thanks,

Stefan.

johnebaker wrote on 8/10/2021, 4:27 PM

@Stefan-Fedyszyn

Hi

Pleased to hear you are now able to capture the video.

WDM stands for Windows Driver Model and is the standard for audio which most applications use for media playback eg from a web browser, media player etc, and is used for playback.

Rescue your Video Tapes needs direct access to the USB converter as it is capturing (recording) the audio direct, when you hear what is being captured, the program may be playing it through WDM.

Hi John,

I have made a recording which plays back OK but the recording is saved with an .MXV extension in the 'My Record' folder.

Before the driver update, the recording was saved with an .MPG extension. This made it quick to play back to check the recording by double clicking on it.

Is there any way I can change the extension ?

Regards,

Stefan.

johnebaker wrote on 8/11/2021, 4:38 AM

@Stefan-Fedyszyn

Hi

. . . . Is there any way I can change the extension ? . . . .

The MXV is a Magix specific intermediate file format, changing the file extension to mpg does not make the file playable as internally it is not a mpg file.

Depending on the version of the program you have, the option to use the mpg file format may not be available - check under the Advanced button in the import dialog.

Hi John,

I checked the Advanced button in Import but there is no option to do a 'Save As' in any other format.

I can still open the recordings pre-driver update as well as the new recordings, so thanks again for your help.

Stefan.
