Do you need a physical midi keyboard to use Samplitude Music Studio or is there a virtual keyboard you can use the keys on your computer instead? Thanks
You can use the so called Piano-roll but yo have to click with the mouse. I bought a keyboard even though I can't play an instrument and now and then with some hardship I manage to find a theme that I like. Then I do the most work with help of the piano- roll. I think it's too difficult to use the mouse.
Yes for maximum flexibility preferably at least a 49 velocity sensitve keys - this will give you a good octave range for continuous playing and a degree of control over the volume of the notes.
Trying to use the computer keybord is restrictive and you have to remember to change the octave you are playing in.
I would recommend going into music shops and try the keyboards, different makes tend to have different feels to the key loading and weight, so what I prefer may not be what you like.
Brands such as Roland, Korg , M-Audio, Alesis and Behringer are five that come to mind. However do try them before buying.
